Scenario In June of 2016 you begin your first week as an intern at the Happy Town Police Department. As an intern, you develop a good rapport with Police Chief Rodney Hurt.
On the second week of your internship you begin to ask questions (of the police officers you have been working with at the department) concerning the Uniform Crime Rate. You tell them you are taking a class at Strayer University and are interested in gaining a better understanding of statistics and the application of statistics to law enforcement.
The following day you are greeted by Sergeant Gunn. She provides you with Part I crime data over the past five years that were submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the Uniform Crime Report. The Part I information provided to you by Sergeant Gunn is a compilation of crime data drawn from four areas: Happy Town, Frown Town, Smooth Town, and Cool Town.
After a review of the crime trends, you are alarmed at the rate of crime reported in these four towns. You are now curious to dig a little deeper and make some comparisons across the data provided to you.

Task Your task is to write a report for the Chief of Police Rodney Hurt. He will use the report for his news conference in regard to the public’s concern for the increase in crime over the past five years. In the report, you will include the following:

2. A description of the data-gathering strategy for your report and a rationale for why you
chose this technique
3. A discussion of the crime trends comparing Happy Town, Frown Town, Smooth Town,
and Cool Town over the past five years.
Your report should clearly describe all the details necessary for the Chief’s news conference. Your answers will be judged not only on the accuracy of the information you provide, but also on how thoroughly the information is covered, how effectively the report is organized, and how well your writing reflects the conventions of standard written English. While your personal values and experiences are important, please answer all the questions in this task solely on the basis of the information provided in the Document Library. (The Document Library is included in this assignment document.)

reflective paper

To bring together your learning both in and out of class, and to demonstrate how understanding of the past can help deal with the future in a spirit of compassionate hope, you will write a reflective paper. It should be a carefully-constructed, well-thought-out essay comparing one character from Achebe’s Things Fall Apart with one character from “The Mission.” The setting of this analysis is, of course, the 500-year story of “The West and the World.” The focus of this analysis is to reflect on the question: “How can someone in a situation of powerlessness find hope for the future?” But this is no glib opinion piece: the paper should
· indicate your close familiarity with the two works by summarizing each character’s role in the story
· reflect and comment on (1) how the character had to confront powerful outside influences, and (2) how (if at all) the character found grounds for hope
· place these fictionalized characters into the concrete, real-world context of both (1) particular events from their own time and place and (2) broad, long-term historical trends
· include a paragraph or two evaluating whether such fictionalized accounts (novels, plays, films, legends, etc) can provide true historical insight—and if so, how
· conclude, in light of your analysis, with a personal statement—either from an explicitly Christian or honestly non-Christian perspective—on the sources of hope in a world of power
Grading Criteria
__how well you address the issues listed above
__you have a coherent thesis and structure in the writing
__how carefully you substantiate your analysis and argument. How clearly and logically your paper is organized and your argument is substantiated.
__you cite the materials in an acceptable manner (see below)

how the process of benchmarking, or comparing organizations, is important in financial decision making.

In order to be competitive in health care markets, organizations must ensure that the services they provide are consistent in pricing and quality with other comparable organizations. In this Discussion, you will examine how the process of benchmarking, or comparing organizations, is important in financial decision making.
To prepare:

  • Review the information on benchmarking found in this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Search the Walden Library or other reliable resources on the Internet and locate a journal article discussing how a health care organization has used the principle of benchmarking.
  • How could the concept of benchmarking be used in your own organization (or one with which you are familiar), regardless of size?
  • Consider how benchmarking could be useful to you in decision making.
  • Analyze the potential risks of making a faulty comparison.

By Day 3

Post a summary of the article you found (including the APA reference) and explain how it informed your understanding of benchmarking. Discuss how benchmarking could be used for financial decision making in your own organization (or one with which you are familiar). Also analyze the potential risks of making comparisons with an organization that is not a credible match with your own.

Information Systems

Assignment 1: The CEO’s Challenge Due Week 3 and worth 150 points You’ve just left an all-hands meeting at your company*. The CEO was very upset at the rise of shadow IT projects – a major indicator that the company’s internal information system has failed to meet its needs. Because the current information system is inadequate, inefficient, and outdated, the CEO is inviting everyone in the organization to propose a new operational, decision support, or enterprise information system to replace it. The executives have allocated $5 million to fund the most promising idea. This is your chance to make a difference in the company (not to mention your own career). Write your proposal as a memo that the entire C-suite will review. Include at least these points, in your own words, to be persuasive: 1. Identify the main functions of your proposed information system and why they are important to the business. 2. Describe what types of data your information system will hold and how data quality will be ensured. 3. Explain how the old information system handles the functions you mentioned, the problems that occur, and why your information system will handle things better. 4. Offer evidence of feasibility: Show that similar information systems have been built successfully and that they save more money than they cost. The executives are busy, so keep your memo to 1-4 pages and avoid any extraneous content. *You may use a current or former employer, but do not disclose anything confidential. Or, you can pick another organization if you are familiar with their internal (not customer-facing) information systems. You can disguise the organization and populate it with famous names. Made-up companies are problematic because of the amount of detail and realism they require

reimbursement and the relationship with the HIM department.

develop a paper about reimbursement and the relationship with the HIM department. Please be sure to incorporate the following points within your
response:
1. Compare and contrast reimbursement methods.
2. Discuss the consequences of incorrect coding and reimbursements.
3. How to correct an incorrect code used to submit claims.
Your essay must be at least three pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. Please incorporate at least three references; at least one must be from the Waldorf Online Library.

short story anthologies, the canon and the selection mechanism

Short story anthologies ( see bibliography) are more canonical in that they promote established names and steer the definition of the genre short story through there prefaces and introductory essays.
In the present 10 page paper you are asked to research three topics:
1.    What do composers of anthologies say about the genre short story?
Do they write a short history? Do they explain innate characteristics of short fiction? What can you read between the lines about the nature of short fiction apart from the fact that it is short?
2.    What do composer of anthologies write about the selection mechanism?
i.e. why did they pick certain authors and why did they left others out? That is if they are explicit about their choice? Are the Prefaces and Introductions conscious about the CANON. Do they comment on it. Why take up certain writers? Why leave others out?
3.    Which are the recurring names in the three anthologies? Are the names and the stories spread out in a politically correct way: white? Afro American? Hispanic? Native American etc.
