Read the book The Cost of Hope by Amanda Bennet.  Discuss your observation about the health care system, collaboration, and the experience of the author.  What are the implications for social work practice? What lessons would you take away about understanding any given patient or family’s decision-making around treatment decisions.  Finally, were there elements in this book that surprised you? Ways to Cut Expenses

See how the essay follows the outline.
See how the introductory paragraph gives background information and leads into a thesis at the end of the paragraph. While some instructors do not require that the thesis be at the end, for this course, the thesis must be at the end of the introductory paragraph. (Note that the outline starts with the thesis and does not include what you intend to put before the thesis as background information.)
See how there is a paragraph for each I, II, and III
Remember that the proof (the body paragraphs) has to prove the thesis.  There should be wording in each paragraph that shows how it proves the thesis.
There should not be any information in those body paragraphs that does not prove the thesis.
See how the concluding paragraph sums up the proof and restates the thesis and does not contain any new information such as what would happen if the solutions to problems are not found. While some instructors take a different approach about what should be in the concluding paragraph, for this course, the conclusion should consist of a summary of the proof after a restatement of the thesis.
Using one of the outlines posted on the page prior to this one, write a brief essay of about 500 words (450-550).  Feel free to change the proof points if you think of something else. This is not a research paper. You should be able to write one of these essays from your own information. Do not use outside information from the library, the Internet, or elsewhere.

Holocaust survivor Ernest W. Michel

Examine the testimony of a Holocaust survivor featured in the film Shoah and/or some other source.  Narrate his/her story in a summarized version of the testimony. You will likely be using third-person narration, as well as setting, plot, and details to enhance your narrative.
After this narration is complete, analyze the narrative. What insights are there to be taken from the testimony? What lessons should be learned? How should those involved have behaved differently? How could/should circumstances have been changed? What should have been the right course of affairs? Based on this testimony, and what you have read in Hayes, argue for the necessity of studying the Holocaust.
All in all, you will need an introductory paragraph with a thesis, a narrative section, and an analysis section with a conclusion. Research and quoted material are indeed a required part of this paper.

Siddhartha

In the final chapter of Hesse’s novel, Siddhartha tells Govinda that “Wisdom cannot be communicated…Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. We can find it, we can live it, we can be carried by it, we can work wonders with it, but we cannot utter it or teach it” (124). A) What is the distinction that Siddhartha is attempting to make between “knowledge” and “wisdom” and in what ways is this distinction significant in his search for enlightenment?  B) Describe 1-2 experiences in Siddhartha’s life that you believe directly led him to this conclusion and why.
