The thesis statement should be one or two sentences that summarize the key argument of the research paper. In other words, the thesis statement is the main idea of the entire paper.
Students should also submit an annotated bibliography of at least five (5) scholarly sources that will provide support for the thesis of the paper. Research for sources should be done through the UMUC Library. Sources should be peer-reviewed and academically credible. Wikipedia, Answers.com, Yahoo Answers, About.com, Infoplease, and other non-scholarly websites and blogs are not acceptable.
The annotated bibliography should list the proper citation for the source and include the annotated paragraph beneath it. Annotations should summarize the work, note its strengths and weaknesses, and discuss important points useful to your research. For more information on writing thesis statements and annotated bibliographies, students should visit the websites below.

supporting points or reasons for doing it. Include a variety of examples that illustrate your claim’s
supporting points or reasons.
Illustrate to your readers how they can improve their lives by taking your advice, and give at least three
clearly explained, detailed, and vivid examples of the behaviors and/or actions you recommend.
You must use at least one personal and one hypothetical example. If you choose to use a
research/data example, you are only allowed ONE, and you must cite it according to MLA
guidelines. Since we haven’t covered MLA guidelines in detail yet, please do your best using the
