Marketplace Live simulation assignment-Digital marketing options for your division

Details:
This part of your Marketplace Live simulation assignment is individual. You will present the content to your team members and determine an appropriate digital marketing plan to include in your Marketing Plan assignment.
At this point, your team has developed a Marketing Plan to support your marketing division and justify an additional capital investment from corporate headquarters to move forward. Digital marketing is a critical part of marketing strategies today because of the prevalence of social media and other web-based technologies, online media outlets, and mobile Internet and applications.
Based on the current position of your new division in the simulation and your goals for coming quarters analyze the market research data, competitive data, and real-world digital marketing options to develop a summarized digital marketing plan for your division that benefits growth and considers competition. In 500-750 words, address the following:

  1. Digital marketing options for your division:Discuss the decision to shift all or a portion of your division’s promotional budget in the simulation to digital marketing. Consider factors including B2B verses B2C considerations in digital media, target market coverage, exposure, analytics, and costs.
  2. Digital media impact:How would the addition of digital media options influence your division’s overall promotional plan?
  3. Digital media types and options: Include examples of specific social media platforms, blogs, websites, applications, etc. and include a justification for each based on your division’s goals. Use real-world data by researching the outlets/platforms, reviewing media kits when available, and citing available sources on exposure, targeting options, etc.
  4. Monitor digital media:How will you monitor effectiveness and adjust your strategy based on your division’s goals?

You are required to include both academic and professional references (e.g., data on analytics, platform use data) to justify your plan.
Submit your individual report to the assignment drop box, and then post your report to your CLC team forum for your group to review. Review the reports of the rest of your team and, as a group, discuss your individual plans to create the final digital marketing section to be included in your group’s Final Report due in Topic 8.

Current Challenges in Our Child Welfare Policies & Examining Culture and Policy

There are two parts to this assignment:
Part 1 – Current Challenges in Our Child Welfare Policies
Read the case study in the text beginning on page 152 entitled “Children Who Are Not Headliners”.  This is a very stark case study based on a real family.  I found myself asking many questions such as, “Why were the children not removed from their family and placed into foster care?”  I have worked with families similar to this one, and I remember that one of the realities is that often families who are in the child welfare ‘system’ have experienced generations of neglect, trauma and chaotic living.  Basically, our efforts must be multi-faceted so that we can help both parents and children when they are embedded in these kinds of troubles.  To demonstrate your understanding of the application of this chapter’s concepts to the case, please answer the following questions.

1. Based on what you have learned in this chapter about the current policy challenges in the child welfare system, what policy changes might make the system more useful to this family?  (Hint:  These policy challenges begin on page 142 of the chapter.)  Be sure to tell WHY these policy changes might be effective.

2. What is ONE way that risk could be reduced for this family?

3. What is ONE way that protective factors could be enhanced for this family?

Part 2 – Examining Culture and Policy

Assume that you and your friends decide to spend the day in Chicago.  You arrive by train around 12:00 noon and head for a restaurant that was recommended by a friend.  Just as you are approaching the restaurant you notice that there is a baby carriage containing an infant parked on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant.  It appears that the infant is unattended.

Upon entering the restaurant you notice two things in particular.  One, the place is packed but there is a table left for you and your friends.  And two, from inside the restaurant the baby carriage is visible through some of the windows.

1. Are you at all concerned about the unattended infant?  Or, is it someone else’s concern?

2. If you are concerned, what would you do (if anything)?  Tell the manager of the restaurant?  Call the police?  Shout out loud across the restaurant, stating that there is someone’s baby outside unattended and asking if they know whose baby it is?

3. Would you assume the baby’s parents are eating or working in the restaurant?  Would that affect your actions?

4. If the parents are in the restaurant and they identify themselves, what would you do or say (if anything) to them?

5. Would you view the parent’s action here as an example of child neglect?  Child abuse?  Both child neglect and abuse?  Or neither, because it is nobody’s business to begin with except the parents?

The rest of the story…

This short case is based on an actual incident that took place in New York City in the late 1990’s.  A Danish couple, visiting the city, were arrested and lost custody of their child for three days because the Department of Children and Families viewed them as negligent parents.  However, in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries it is quite customary for parents to leave infants and small children unattended (but in view of parents) in public.  This example is intended to reinforce the idea that our laws and policies around child welfare are based on our collective western culture.  Because we have so many cultures represented in the United States, it is important to realize that the application of family policy may be experienced quite differently by various groups.

Appalachian Coal Mining believes that it can increase labor productivity and, therefore,

net revenue by reducing air pollution in its mines. It estimates that the marginal cost

function for reducing pollution by installing additional capital equipment is

MC= 70P,

where P represents a reduction of one unit of pollution in the mines. It also feels that for

every unit of pollution reduction the marginal increase in revenue (MR) is

MR= 1,200 −10P.

How much pollution reduction should Appalachian Coal Mining undertake?

Q6: Ch3

c. If each security guard is paid $400 a week and the cost of a stolen radio is only $30, how many security guards should the firm hire?

Q7: Ch 3

Bavarian Crystal Works designs and produces lead crystal wine decanters for export to

international markets. The production manager of Bavarian Crystal Works estimates total

and marginal production costs to be

TC = 10,000 + 40Q + 0.0025Q2

and

MC = 40 + 0.005Q

where costs are measured in U. S. dollars and Q is the number of wine decanters

produced annually. Because Bavarian Crystal Works is only one of many crystal

producers in the world market, it can sell as many of the decanters as it wishes for $50

apiece. Total and marginal revenue are

TR = 60Q and MR = 60

where revenues are measured in U. S. dollars and Q is annual decanter production.

a. What is the optimal level of production of wine decanters? What is the marginal

revenue from the last wine decanter sold?

b. What are the total revenue, total cost, and net benefit (profit) from selling the optimal

Assignment 1: LASA 2—Company Analysis Report: Marketing strategy: target market segments, value proposition, market position, and source of competitive differentiation

Assignment 1: LASA 2—Company Analysis Report

Review the following scenario:
Assume that you have recently been hired as the director of continuous improvement of a company. You are an outside hire with limited history of the firm and personal capital at the firm, and you are responsible for lean production, total quality management (TQM), six sigma, and best practice implementation.
Lean production means doing more with less, such as less inventory, fewer workers, or less space. A recent trade in quality management is lean six sigma (also known as lean sigma) that integrates six sigma and lean production.
The capacity for which you were hired has existed for three years with a direct line of report to the vice-president of operations and dotted line of report to the head of information technology (IT), the chief information officer (CIO), and the director of internal controls and audit. You are the second person to fill in this position. You have a team of internal consultants; half of your team has six sigma black belt or equivalent capabilities with the remainder having a solid understanding of operations and IT. You also have a budget for two external vendor resources.
You have taken six months to familiarize yourself with the organization and its people, mission, goals, strategy, and structure. In this time, you have also evaluated current operations. At the end of this period, you are assigned to deliver a report identifying the three most promising avenues for achieving best practices within the company. You have already been told that the company suffers from both aging and complex information systems and that your recommendation must include a major upgrade of those systems. The executive officers anticipate major investments in IT over the next several years. Your best practice implementations, coupled with new technology, must be measurable in terms of speed, quality, productivity, and efficiency or other key performance indicators that you identify in your report.
For this assignment, you will choose a company with which you are familiar. You are encouraged to choose a company for which you currently work or have worked, but you may choose some other firm if you believe it will be a compelling analysis.
You may choose one area of the company, such as a manufacturing plant or product design, to focus on if you can make a strong case. Your recommendations should have the following features.

  • Repeatable: If you “fix” three things in a manufacturing plant, you should be able to tackle the “next” three in iteration.
  • Scalable: If they work in one plant, they should work in all of them.
  • Replicable: Your process for improvement should be repeatable in different, disparate parts of the organization.

This is a key initiative at the “C” level, and your recommendation will reach the board of directors.
Your paper must include the following sections:

  1. Strategic Overview: (1 page)
Provide a brief description of the following elements:

    1. The company, including its products or services
    2. Marketing strategy: target market segments, value proposition, market position, and source of competitive differentiation
    3. Organizational structure
    4. Any other relevant facts
  2. Analysis of the Supply Chain: (4 pages)
Analyze the supply chain for your identified company by explaining the following key elements of the supply chain:

    1. Identify key inputs, including less tangible assets, such as human resources and information. How are these key inputs sourced, reconfigured into a product or service, and delivered to your customers?
    2. Identify the key processes that add value, and evaluate the supply chain performance relative to the competition. What are the key inputs for each process? How are these inputs processed or configured into the final offering for your customers?
    3. What is the value added at each step?
    4. What is the role of information technology and e-commerce in serving your customers?
    5. What are the key performance measures for evaluating your supply chain?
    6. Research online sources to explain how the performance on these measures compares to that of your competitors?
  3. Plan to Improve Operating Processes: (3 pages)
Create a plan for improving the performance of three specific operating processes in your company. Your plan should address the following:

    1. Identify three elements of the supply chain that you recommend as targets for improvement.
    2. State the performance improvement opportunity for each element, and indicate how it will improve process speed, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
    3. Explain what specific action or change you recommend for each supply chain element selected.
  4. Explanation of the Results of Performance Improvements Regarding Product or Service: (2 pages)
    Explain the following:

    1. How will your product or service be improved as a result of these changes to the supply chain activities?
    2. How are you altering the specific features or attributes of your product or service?
    3. Why are these specific changes important to your customers?
    4. How do these changes enhance the value proposition and competitive position of your company?
    5. What lasting capabilities and improvement are you introducing into your company through these changes?
    6. How will you measure the scope and impact of your improvements? What are your key performance indicators?
  5. Assessment of the Impact on Human Resources: (1–2 pages)
Detail how your plan impacts your company’s HR and human capital strategy by explaining how the organization’s structure supports the new process configuration you are recommending. Your response should address the following questions:

    1. Are the roles and responsibilities in your organization properly defined and aligned to enable these changes? Who will perform these new/modified process activities, and what changes to their jobs do you anticipate?
    2. Is decision-making authority assigned so that the process changes you propose can be implemented and properly managed under the current structure? Who will own the process and the results? Based on the current structure, will they have the authority to make changes as necessary?
    3. Are the individuals with the right skills in place to implement these changes? If not, how will you attract the talent necessary to implement your changes? How will you retrain the existing employee base? How will you handle attrition? How will you reduce the risk of impacted protected classes?
  6. Changes:
Explain changes to the compensation and incentives at your company that are necessary to reinforce your recommendations and increase efforts for continuous improvement throughout the organization. Explain how your plan motivates employees, customers, and suppliers better.

Write an 10–12-page paper in Word format. You may rearrange the above sections if it improves the quality of your paper. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.

writing about a controversial moral issue that you have strong convictions about. You will describe the moral issue, your position on it, then attempt to support your position using philosophical arguments

For this paper, you will be writing about a controversial moral issue that you have strong convictions about. You will describe the moral issue, your position on it, then attempt to support your position using philosophical arguments.
Some possible topics (but not limited to): Morality of War; Torture; Our Duties to the Poor; Homosexuality; Euthanasia, Suicide; Moral Status of Non-human Animals; Our Duties toward the Environment; Abortion; Et Cetera.
Include the following sections 4 sections, clearly label when each section begins in your paper (You may do this simply with a section number or section title):
i) Introduction. Introduce and give a brief summary of the paper. Briefly describe the moral issue your chose, your position, and how you will support your position.
ii) Describe in more detail the moral issue you chose and why you chose it. (Only choose 1 moral issue). Pick a controversial moral issue, one that there is significant disagreement concerning the correct position.
iii) Explain what you believe is the correct position or answer to the moral issue. Make sure that you give a firm answer/position to your chosen question; do not simply state that you don’t know, or that there is no possible answer. At least attempt to formulate your own answer.
iv) Why? Attempt to give philosophical rational arguments in support of your position. Philosophical arguments should be universal, accessible by and applicable to all those who are rational. So they should not simply be based upon “this is how I was brought up,” “this is what I was taught,” “this is what my religion teaches,” “this is what a sacred text says,” etc.

Applied Managerial Finance-What might somebody else say to show your proposed solution is wrong?

Michelle has told you that the board is now ready to see the final presentation of your plan for MM’s new product.   “They are very eager to see what we have been working on during the past few weeks,” she says excitedly. “I am sure they will love the plan and am looking forward to your presentation.”  “Thanks,” you respond, feeling a few butterflies in your stomach. “I am looking forward to the presentation also. I think we have covered all of the bases and I am sure we have a solid plan.  I have jotted down the order of items to cover that I think will be best for the presentation. What do you think?” 1.Objectives of plan  2.Marketing research used to select target market  3.Product  4.Pricing  5.Distribution  6.Promotional Strategies  7.Measuring results  8.Contingency Plan  “This looks like a solid format for the presentation. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help,” Michelle says exiting your office.  You close the door of your office so you can fully concentrate on preparing your presentation. You have a lot of material to cover, but you have been working on this plan for weeks. Now it’s just a matter of formulating a cohesive strategy and anticipating any questions that may arise during the presentation.  •What might somebody else say to show your proposed solution is wrong?  •What could you say to show s/he is wrong?  •What alternative solution might someone else recommend?  •What reasons might someone provide to support their solution?  •How would you respond to their reasons?  •Is there a compromise or creative solution?
