INTRODUCTION TO HYPOTHESIS TESTING

Assignment Overview

Suppose that a 2012 National Health Interview Survey gives the number of adults in the United States which gives the number of adults in the United States (reported in thousands) classified by their age group, and whether or not respondents have ever been tested for HIV. Here are the data:

Discuss probability. What is its history? What is the theory of probability? How is it calculated? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using this technique?

  1. Identify and discuss the two major categories of probability interpretations, whose adherents possess conflicting views about the fundamental nature of probability.
  2. Based on this survey, what is the probability that a randomly selected American adult has never been tested? Show your work. Hint: using the data in the two total rows, this would be calculated as p (NT) /( p (NT) + p (T)), where p is probability.
  3. What proportion of 18- to 44-year-old Americans have never been tested for HIV? Hint: using the values in the 18–44 cells, this would be calculated as p (NT) / ( p (NT) + p (T)), where p is probability. Show your work.

Submit your (2-3 pages) paper by the end of this module.

Assignment 2: Designing Value-Based Service

Assignment 2: Designing Value-Based Service
As the rate of innovation increases, companies face expanding product/service lines, shorter product and service lifecycles, and more frequent product/service transitions. All of these can bring tremendous value but also pose enormous challenges and risks.
The article “The Art of Managing New Product Transitions” by Erhun, Gonclave, and Hopman (2007) from the readings for this module includes a matrix titled “Product Drivers and Risk Factors,” which focuses on Intel, a company that manufactures high-tech products (p. 76). Based on your readings and research, address the following issues:
Redesign the product risk factor matrix so that the factors are appropriate for a services firm that delivers traditional tax accounting and audit services. For example, among the supply risks, assume that the company relies on individuals with specific knowledge of the tax law in the jurisdictions where its clients operate, be it state, federal, or foreign.
Now, assume that the firm wants to develop a management consultancy practice. (Alternatively, you may choose to add a legal services line instead.). Create a separate new matrix that summarizes the additional risk factors for this firm launching a management consultancy or legal services line. What additional risk factors are you adding to your matrix?
Explain how the business risks differ between traditional tax and audit services and management consulting services. In your opinion, what are the three biggest risks the firm faces if it diversifies into the new service line?
Recommend whether the firm should organically grow into a consultancy service or acquire a third party to achieve new goals. Justify your recommendations.
Develop a 6–8-slide presentation in PowerPoint format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.ppt.
Be sure to include the following in your presentation:
A title slide
An agenda slide
A reference slide
Headings for each section
Speaker notes to support the content in each slide
By the due date assigend, deliver your assignment to the Submissions Area.

4th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

Unit II Discussion Board Question
One of the topics that consistently gets discussed under the realm of workers’ compensation is the topic of reducing costs. How do you think worker’ compensation costs could be reduced in your place of work? If you are not currently working, use your last job, or use an industry that you are familiar with as an example.
Unit II Discussion Board Question
In the case, Marshall v. Barlow’s, Inc. in 1978, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the 4th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution required a warrant for a nonconsensual OSHA inspection. Changes to 29 CFR 1903.4 allows OSHA to obtain warrants without the owner’s knowledge under appropriate circumstances, which allows inspections to proceed without advance warning. However, in cases where OSHA shows up at a facility with no prior notice and does not obtain a warrant on an ex parte basis, the owner may require a warrant to be obtained prior to allowing an inspection to occur. Some companies have standing rules to require warrants for all inspections.
Discuss the positive and negative aspects of requiring a warrant prior to allowing any OSHA inspection to occur at a facility. Provide sound reasoning for your answer.

 Project Scope Statement

LAST WEEKS PAPER.      Project Scope Statement: This project is going to focus on a startup business that is in the market for property acquisition, with the intent to rent the property until the mortgage has been paid off.  At this point the properties would either be sold for instant profit, or the properties would continually be rented for a sustainable income.  The company will only have four partners and limited outside investors.  The scope of this project will be focused on property under 300,000 dollars and is located within the Seattle.  Foreclosed on properties are excluded from the scope, because they are not a realistic buy with the budget of the small startup.  The budget is also the biggest constraint the project will face.  This is why the outside investors could get involved.  The four partners would each have a different role they would fill to ensure the success of the project.  One of the four partners would fill one of the following four areas:   Finance and banking management, Property and contract management, Advertisement and customer acquisition Property repair and upkeep The four areas listed above are the 4 most important criteria that should be focused on, if those areas are successful then I believe the project will be successful.  The process that will be used when accepting results will be based upon number of property costs versus the net income of the properties.  It will be an acceptable product if the properties make more money than they cost to manage.  The deliverable that is expected from this project is owned property. The assumptions for this project include the following: Funding is available to buy the properties. Properties are available for purchase on the market within the scope of the project. The market is in the sellers favor. Outside investors will not own more than 10 percent of the company.  Stakeholders: There will be very limited stakeholders as this is a small startup project. The four members of the group will be the primary stakeholders, since they have the most invested into the project.  They will be internal stakeholders with a high impact and influence on the project. The other set of stakeholders will be the limited outside investors. They will be a small minority in the project and would be an external stakeholder.  This group of stakeholders would not have an impact or influence on any decisions made.  They are investing in the opportunity to make a profit down the line, not to own a property acquisition company.
Communication Plan: The communication plan for this project would target the audience that is looking for a rental property in the short term and in the long term targeting those who want to buy. The best way and most cost efficient way to draw attention to the business would involve creating signs that could be placed throughout the community.  These would be visual aids that would draw eyes to the project, and from there word of mouth would spread the project around.  The other form of advertising that would be used is radio commercials.  These plugs are cheap and effective.  Overall the success of this plan would be high is my estimation.  The cost is cheap and the reach is large enough to gain the clients needed for success. WBS for Property Acquisition and Management:Planning Bring in Four PartnersSelect Company NameIdentify InvestorsResearch Identify Property PricesFind the Right AreaDiscuss Bank Loans for Small Business Shop Around at Different BanksCompare Loan OptionsSecure the Best LoanPurchase and Management Buy PropertyFind Renter Agree to Terms of ContractManage Upkeep of Property Collect the Agreed Amount from Renter

Last week, each of you selected a project and defined the scope, stakeholders, communication plan and the WBS. You will use this project to complete the elements below. Share your project’s scope statement to start your response to the assignment.Decompose one of your WBS elements: Ensure your WBS has the appropriate level of detail and then add all of the application activities to estimate resources and durations against. Then sequence your activities and show an end milestone. Highlight your critical path through your activities.  Remember, activities are contained WITHIN the WBS, they are not the WBS.  Do not make us guess the critical path, it should be well graphed and stated on a gantt chart, either hand drawn or using a scheduling program!  If you don’t have a scheduling tool, you can try something like this: http://gantter.com/  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Make sure there isn’t too much overlap of resources within overlapping activities.

Reflection teams

Reflection teams
The attached file pass student of this class answers to them questions and the Scoring rubric
Think about two teams on which you have been. One should have been effective and one ineffective. Now answer the questions based on your experience and the information in this lesson folder on developing teams. Do not type on this document. Type on a new sheet, save correctly and submit. Answer in 300 word or fewer.

  1. ID the team which      was ineffective. Based on the      slides—what went wrong? What elements (no more than three) were missing?      Be specific in what was missing and give at least one example that      demonstrates what you say.
  2. ID the team which      was effective. Based on the      slides—what went right? What elements were there (no more than three)? Be      specific in what was present and give at least one example that      demonstrates what you say.
  3. In your opinion,      which one or two characteristics is/are most important in developing an      effective team? Why?

imilarities and differences that exist between human and non-human primates today

1. how different are we
After watching Ape Genius (2008), describe the similarities and differences that exist between human and non-human primates today. What do you think are the major similarities and differences? Why are these similarities and differences important for us to understand (as anthropologists and as humans in general). Finally, share something that stood out to you about the connection between humans and primates in this film. Of course, explain why it stood out to you.
Your post must be written in your own words. Remember to name your sources. If you summarize something from the textbook, you can say, “according to our textbook.” However, if you use quotes from the textbook or any other source, be sure to put them in quotation marks, state where they are from, and include the page number.
Your initial post (2 paragraphs) is due by Thursday at midnight
here is the link to the film.
2. Ethnoprimatology
Ethnoprimatology involves study of the human-primate interactions and interfaces. This discussion has two parts. First after reading and viewing this week’s materials, describe some of the ways humans and primates have interacted over time. In your answer, be sure to explain what the “anthropocene” is and what it implies for human-primate interactions.
Second, over half of all primates are endangered. Choose one specific endangered primate species from the 25 most endangered primates (see next paragraph for a link to the list) and do a little research online. Then explain what is causing the species you chose to be endangered. Finally, why do you think it’s important for this specific species to be protected from extinction?
The International Union for Conservation of Nature publishes reports on the 25 most endangered species.
Your post must be written in your own words. Remember to name your sources. If you summarize something from the textbook or a high quality website, you can say, “according to our textbook” or “according to the Jane Goodall Institute website.” However, if you use quotes from the textbook or any other source, be sure to put them in quotation marks, state where they are from, and include the page number or include the link if it’s a website.
