André Breton's poem, "Free Union."

think

Thanks for the compliment I think
Conduct an online search for André Breton’s poem, “Free Union.” Upon locating the poem, read through it and share your thoughts about the following discussion with your classmates:
André Breton’s “Free Union” follows the form of a French blason, a poem that is made up of a list of qualities that describe a person, usually a woman, often to flatter, but sometimes to mock sarcastically. Maybe you have heard or read one before, something like, “Your eyes are like emeralds; your hair shines like the sun; etc.” You can see that the poet is making comparisons: eyes with emeralds, hair with the sun. In “Free Union,” Breton seems to be comparing “Woman of mine” to some really bizarre images.
Choose a few examples of these comparisons in order to see if you can make sense out of them. Remember what the Dadaists and Surrealists stand for, with regard to conventional poetry. What kind of thinking is needed to make sense of these images? Is it all logical? Is one even supposed to make sense of the poem? If not, then what do you think was Breton’s point for writing it? Be sure to refer to examples from the poem when you share your thoughts with other classmates.

Invention and Organization

AssignmentW5 Assignment “Invention and Organization”English Composition IInvention and Organization
This week’s assignment is intended to help get you started on the persuasive essay we will be working on throughout the remainder of this course. Before getting started on this assignment, it might be beneficial for you to read the criteria for the Week Six Persuasive Essay.
For this week, we will be practicing topic selection and outlining. Because this is preparation for next week’s persuasive essay, you will need to start by picking a topic that is persuasive. This topic must meet the following criteria:

  1. Look up and read the following article in the EBSCOhost Database:
    Step-by-step through the writing process. (2007). Writing, 30. 1-8.
(Note: You do not need to answer any of the questions from the reading in your assignment).
  2. Read and respond to EACH of the following questions and submit them and your outline in a single document (both parts must be completed).
  3. Part One: Topic Search
For the first part of this assignment, consider the following three questions:
  4. What issue or problem would you like to write about?
  5. Choose a side. What is your view on the issue? What is the opposing view?
  6. What specific change might fix this issue?
  7. Then, freewrite for 10-15 minutes about the topic you have chosen. Share all of the reasons you can think of for why your problem needs to be fixed. Do not worry about grammar, spelling, or format. Do not edit. Write what comes to mind. Do not research yet. If you are stumped and cannot write what you know for 10-15 minutes, go back to #1 and start with a new topic.
    Part Two: The Outline
Draft an informal outline for your upcoming persuasive paper. Do not include quotations or paraphrased material. Your outline should be built from your current knowledge of the topic. You can refine this later when you conduct your research.
Basic Outline for a Five Paragraph Essay

The development of the Cold War

By the due date, post your topic choice and thesis statement to the Submissions Area on the next page. Be sure to check the Submissions Area to read feedback from your instructor. This assignment is ungraded.
Research Project
Up to this point in the course, you have completed assignments that may have left little time or need for individual exploration of topics that interest you. With your research project, you have the chance to follow up on a topic, explore it with research, and present it as an essay. Select any topic relevant to the timeframe of this course that is of interest to you to research and write about. It can be anything within the scope of the course that you wish there had been more time or need to explore.
In Week 6, you will complete your research project, in which you select a topic that pertains to the historic period covered in this course to write about.
Start thinking about the topic and submit your topic choice and thesis statement to your instructor by the due date. You’ll work on the research project during Week 4 and submit the research project in W6 Assignment 1.

motivation models

Imagine that you have been appointed the Director of Health at the Kaluyu Memorial Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya – a for-profit hospital. The facility is also a referral hospital and receives severe cases of accidents, chronicle / communicable diseases and houses an HIV / AIDS ward. As you settle into your position, you realize that the employees always act scared as they approach their superiors. Some of the employees even deliver files and leave your office in a hurry.
As you make your routine departmental visits, you realize that there are tensions between nurses and doctors, and there is a sentiment that the nurses tend to do the majority of the work within patient care but the doctors get all the credit. You realize that the employees are always looking forward to the end of their shifts to go home. Some employees even come back to work wearing the same unwashed clothes as the previous day. Too many employees are calling in sick, and many of them give weak reasons for their tardiness.
There is also a sense that employees and nurses dominate other employees in similar positions. In meetings and conference calls some employees are always quiet and never participate. You notice that people with families tend to gather and talk quietly on breaks. The new mothers working for the hospital have to use bathrooms to pump breast milk for their infants and the refrigerators do not work well. Looking at the financial statements of the hospital, you realize that the hospital expenses are higher than the industry standard, and it makes losses year after year.
Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.
Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Investigate the major demotivational factors at Kaluyu Memorial Hospital. Assess the level of impact that the identified factors could have on specific areas of service and business if the administration does not address the situation. Support your response with at least two (2) examples of the potential negative impact of the identified demotivational factors on the hospital.
  2. Choose Maslow’s, Herzberg’s, or McClelland’s model of motivation, and argue the primary reasons why it is applicable to the Kaluyu Memorial Hospital scenario.
  3. Formulate a communication system that will have the greatest impact on improving the situation, and specify the major reasons why your system will influence the employee behaviors for the better. Justify your response.
  4. Use four (4) recent (within the last five [5] years) quality academic resources in this assignment.
Note: Wikipedia and other websites do not qualify as quality academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
