For this assignment, you will complete an analysis of a case study that deals with one of the following stages of lifespan development: middle adulthood or later adulthood.
Select one of the following case studies from your Broderick and Blewitt textbook to complete an analysis of the developmental and contextual issues related to the selected case:
•David, page 554.
•Lupe, page 524.
Each of the case studies includes a set of questions that can guide your analysis of the pertinent issues for the particular case.
Expectations
Address the following in your case study analysis:
•Analyze lifespan development theories to determine the most appropriate theory or theories to apply to the case study.
•Apply the appropriate lifespan development theory to support an identified intervention process.

Content
The case study analysis should be a maximum of 5 pages in length, including the introduction and conclusion, each of which should be approximately a half page in length. The body of the paper should not exceed 4 pages.
Provide the following content in your paper:
•An introduction that includes an overview of the paper contents, including a brief summary and background information regarding the case study.
•The body of the case study, including:
◦The presenting challenge or challenges and primary issue or issues.
◦The appropriate lifespan development theory and research-based alternatives that explain the presenting challenges.
◦The potential impact of individual and cultural differences on development for the current age and context described in the case study.
◦Evidence-based support from lifespan development theory and current scholarly research to support appropriate interventions.
•A conclusion that summarizes what was introduced in the body of the paper, with respect to the case study context, challenges, and interventions.

Jefferson is a six-year-old boy in kindergarten. He has suffered from cerebral palsy and a severe seizure disorder since he was an infant, resulting in significant physical and cognitive impairment. Although he has received services and support through early childhood intervention (ECI) services, as he enters formal schooling, his parents have become increasingly concerned about his future. Jefferson spends most of his time in a wheelchair and uses a special touchscreen augmentative communication device. In addition to their concerns about the future, Jefferson’s father also harbors considerable guilt that he or his wife might have caused their son’s disabilities.

2.6 due Write a descriptive paper about your family work health and safety history over the past three generations – your grandparents, parents, and yourself.   Families are diverse and can be defined narrowly or broadly.  For the purposes of this assignment family is defined as “two or more persons who are joined together by bonds of sharing and emotional closeness and who identify themselves as being part of the family” (M. Friedman. Family Nursing: Research, Theory, and Practice).  So you may be writing about people other than (or in addition to) a parent or grandparent.
Length:  The required length is at least 4 pages, but no more than 6 pages.  A standard page is about 250 words, so your paper should be a minimum of 1,000 words.
Address the following questions:

  • What jobs or occupations have you and family members held?
  • What health and safety issues were encountered?• Were there any short or long term health consequences from the work family members did?
  • What was the occupational safety and health historical context?  In other words, what were significant political, economic or social events that may have had an impact on  working conditions?  This is an important part of the assignment, so be sure not to skip it.  It is always disappointing when a student tells a great story about his or her family, but fails make the occupational safety and health history connection and, therefore, cannot get a high grade.

I suggest you view and complete the Week 2 lecture before writing your paper. The paper is your story and is an important point of reference throughout the course.
You do not have to use a specific format (e.g. APA or Chicago) but your work should be edited, proof-read, and employ good writing mechanics.  Please double-space and submit as a Word doc. 
You must appropriately cite any content in your paper that is not yours.  I don’t care what citation style you use, but your reader should be able to 1) know the rightful owner of the content and 2) be able to find it.
