Foundations Of Mental Health Counseling – First Session

I need this back on Feb 2nd by 2pm.  2 references

In Module 4, you learned about the direct and indirect functions performed by clinical mental health counselors before, during, after, and outside the counseling relationship. You were taught that counseling is a process that occurs in stages. At each stage, clinical mental health counselors engage in a variety of activities that are purposeful and intentional. Some of the activities performed by counselors during those stages include building the relationship and establishing rapport, gathering information, conceptualizing the case, and performing assessment and diagnosis where appropriate, with the end goal and activity being the collaborative development of an appropriate treatment plan. As you think about the counseling process and the role of the clinical mental health counselor, consider the following scenario:

Scenario:

Aalia is a 17-year-old Muslim female from Pakistan. Her family has been in the United States for 7 years. Aalia was referred to a counselor by her family doctor because she has experienced several behavioral changes over the past 2 months. She takes less interest in school and community activities and has started to isolate herself in her room at home. Her siblings describe her as irritable and moody. Aalia has had occasional crying spells over the past month and she reported unexplained weight loss over the past 2 months. She does not have a formal diagnosis. As you plan for your first session with Aalia, think about what you will do.

Tasks:

In a minimum of 200 words, respond to the following:

Support your rationale and analysis by using at least two resources from professional literature in your response. Professional literature may include peer-reviewed journal articles you can access through the Argosy University online library resources; relevant textbooks; and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (websites ending in .edu or .gov).
Be sure to read all of your classmates’ original posts and respond to more than two of your classmates’ posts. Your responses should be substantive, meaning they should encourage further dialogue and discussion, encourage your classmates to think about other aspects of the topic, compare your response to your classmates’ responses, or ask a relevant question, to better assist you with your understanding. Responses such as “I like/I agree” or “I don’t like/I don’t agree” are not complete enough.
Your discussion posts and all written assignments should reflect graduate-level writing skills and appropriate use of APA style, including in-text citations and references.

Submission Details:

  • By the due date assigned, post your responses to the Discussion Area.
  • Through the end of the module, respond to more than two of your classmates’ posts. While responding, describe how your objectives for the session are similar to and different from the objectives discussed by your classmates. Critique the additional information your classmates would like to obtain and how they would go about obtaining the information. Explain what you might do differently, or do in the same way, and why.

orag consult paper2

· For this assignment, you are to review a scenario and follow the directions listed to write a 3- to 4-page report.
Scenario:
You have scheduled your initial meeting with a key decision maker among a potential client’s senior staff. This decision maker likes to meet all consultants and is known for his or her candor. When you sit down, he or she explains he or she has never liked consultants because of personal experiences he or she has had, and he or she believes consultants provide no value. He or she is agreeing with the decision for practical political reasons only.
Directions:
Using your textbook readings and two additional scholarly sources from the Argosy University online library resources, include the following in three to four pages:
· Determine the risks to the consultant in this situation.
· On the basis of your own strengths and weaknesses, explain how you would approach this client.
· Explain how you would use emotional intelligence to manage this situation.
· Discuss how you would influence this key decision maker to see the value in consulting services.
Your final product will be in a Microsoft Word document and be approximately three to four pages in length. You will utilize at least two scholarly sources in your research. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.

Virtual Poster Conference

For a written transcript, please click herePreview the documentView in a new window.   Poster presentations at conferences are effective methods of communicating research findings. The discussion of the research being presented is a key element in poster conferences. During professional conferences, poster presenters speak with other psychology professionals providing insights into the information offered within the poster as well as explaining key elements of the research findings. See the PSY699 Poster submission guidelines (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for templates and guidelines to aid in the creation of your poster.  For this week’s discussion, you will be submitting a link to your Pathbrite folder where your colleagues will find your poster presentation along with a brief detailed explanation of the materials included in it. Poster presentations are typically informal affairs with limited time for presenters to provide extra information. In keeping with this, your explanations of the materials will be limited to specific parameters. To explain the research presented in your poster, you will be creating a 3- to 5-minute screencast video. You may use any screencast software to create this video. (For further assistance with specific free-use screencast software please see the Quick-Start Guide for Screencast-O-Matic (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) Within the screencast video, you will create a voice over that will point out unusual, unique, and important aspects of the research presented in the poster. Be certain to visually indicate the specific sections or headers where the elements are located to guide your viewers through the materials. The link to the screencast will be attached to the poster page within your Pathbrite Portfolio so that your colleagues may interact with your insights into the materials.

social behavior

  1. Consider your own social behavior and the various normative and informational social influences you encounter in everyday life.  Then, complete the following activities.
  2. Appraise your behavior.  For 24 hours, keep a log of every behavior in which you engage that is due to conformity or obedience.
  3. Select one of the following:
    • Choose one mundane behavior from your log that is based on a social norm.  Violate this norm.  Be sure you are not breaking any rules or laws or putting yourself at risk in any way.  Here is a link to a number of examples, but feel free to come up with your own (or google search for additional ideas):  http://www.radford.edu/~jaspelme/social/examples_of_norm_violations.htm (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
    • Spend 24 hours living “A Day of Nonconformity”, living each minute as uninfluenced as possible (without infringing on the rights of others).  Strive to be your true, unfettered self.
  4. Examine your social influence log and your experience living a day of nonconformity/violating a social norm.  Include the following in your summary:
    • To what extent is your everyday behavior shaped by social influence?
    • How do people react when you do not conform/obey?  What factors influence people to follow?

Post your initial response of 250 words or more by Day 3 (Thursday).  Respond to at least two of your peers by Day 7 (Monday).  You are encouraged to post one or more of your required replies early each week (e.g., by Saturday) to stimulate more meaningful and interactive discourse in the discussion forum.  In addition, strive to provide a response to classmates who replied to your initial post and/or the Instructor (if applicable).  Peer responses may vary in length but should be carefully crafted and insightful.  Below are some suggestions to assist your thinking.
Guided Response:  Reply to at least two or more peers overall.  The goal of the discussion forum is to foster continual dialogue, similar to what might occur in a verbal face-to-face exchange.  Consider the following in your responses:

  • What about your peer’s experience was most surprising?
  • How would you have reacted to the nonconformity of your peer?

Groupthink And Conformity

Respond to the following discussion topics:
1-      According to the textbook, a leader can have a major influence on whether or not groupthink will occur. Describe four (4) ways in which a leader could affect groupthink. Additionally, give two (2) examples of a leader in history that has promoted groupthink. Describe at least two (2) ways groupthink could have been avoided in your example.

2-      Explain the power of social influence based on the findings of Milgram’s experiment. Provide two (2) examples of a situation you have been in where you felt you had to conform to someone or something. Indicate whether you felt you had to conform because of informational or normative influence, and explain the main reasons for your indication.
Please meet the deadline and provide a 100% original work

Cognitive Psychology Discussion

Discussion posts – at least 2 paragraphs each
(Discussion post 1) Chapters 5 and 6 in your text discuss several iconic experiments in memory that have helped us learn about our memory system. After reading about the experiments, select one of the optional articles featured in the module resources and provide a brief critique of the experiment and its application to the real world. You should be sure to discuss any problems with the methodology of the experiment or any problems with the interpretations of the results. Additionally, consider how the findings of the study can be applied to real-world issues. How could findings from the experiment be applied to develop policies or procedures to improve human memory in different professional settings? What strengths or weaknesses in human memory do the experiments highlight that would be important for professional disciplines? (The three optional articles to choose from are attached to this post.)
(Discussion post 2) Mental imagery is an exciting area of research because it has been used in many real-world applications, including improving sports performance, counseling, promoting well-being, and improving memory. Locate an article on mental imagery published within the past five years. Provide a brief summary and critique of the article. Next, discuss the importance and applications of the article’s findings in terms of contemporary issues. How could you use information from the article to improve cognition in different scenarios and professional settings?
(Discussion post 3) Over the years, psychologists have proposed a number of different theories to describe the interactions between language and other types of cognition. This week’s readings expose you to a number of these theories. Some theories suggest that language shapes the way we think about things. Others suggest that individuals are able to change their thought patterns by learning different languages. Consider the influence of language on human cognition in professional settings by discussing how language promotes or limits communication between people. Finally, discuss how cognition could be improved or problems could be solved by examining language.
(Discussion post 4) Throughout the course, you have been exposed to theories in cognitive psychology and have been asked to use those theories to solve problems and evaluate human cognition. Based on what you have learned, discuss the role you think cognitive psychology plays in understanding human behavior and interactions. How has this field advanced our understanding of human cognition and behavior? How has cognitive psychology helped us to create socially responsible strategies for improving cognition? What directions do you think the field will take next, and how will that research be important in solving contemporary problems or real-world issues?

debate whether controlled substance should be legalized (if currently illegal to buy or use), or made available as over the counter drugs (if currently only used with a prescription).

For this task, you will debate whether controlled substance should be legalized (if currently illegal to buy or use), or made available as over the counter drugs (if currently only used with a prescription).
For your debate, choose a specific drug from one of the four drug categories listed above (CNS depressants, CNS stimulants, marijuana, or hallucinogens). Present the pros and cons of making such a substance available freely or on a controlled basis. In preparing your debate, be sure to mention the following points:
Identify the psychopharmacological properties of the substance.
Determine how widely the substance is used.
Determine if the substance is addictive.
Indicate any side effects for this substance.
Identify the effects of criminalizing the substance.
Recognize any problems that might be caused or prevented by decriminalizing the substance.
Determine how this substance can be beneficial once it can be legally purchased without a prescription.
Indicate how this drug might be detrimental if it can be legally purchased without a prescription.
Identify any social implications that can emerge if this substance can be legally purchased.
Prepare your debate in transcript form and allow each debater to make a statement. Be sure to allow time for each to make a rebuttal of the other’s statement. Use critical thinking skills to follow the rules for a logical debate. Support the points in the debate with reference to at least three scholarly references. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
