nursing essay

Do you feel confident in review and understanding lab results?  Yes or No?  What could make you more confident?  What techniques have you used in the past to learn more?

This is meant to be a “learn from eachother” post.

For me, as a former ICU nurse, I felt very weak in lab study/understanding as a new nurse.  I found it was always best to ask why when I did not understand how this could impact a patient.  Also, I lived with my lab interpretation manual and things eventually became easier.  I forced myself to understand the impoact of sodium, potassium and the impacts the imbalances have on the heart.  Also, how certain meds (Lasix) can deplete this……

Career Assessment

Self-assessment is the first step in the career planning process. Career assessments are designed to help you determine the most appropriate career choice and to help you plan your future. These assessments can provide insights regarding your personality, values, interests, and skills and the role they play in your career development and management.
The Internet is increasingly used as a source of self-assessment, career development, and career management. Review the online career assessment tools http://www.assessment.com/. Select and complete three of these assessments.
Prepare a discussion posting addressing the following items. Your responses should go beyond mere surface interpretations to provide depth of self-exploration and self-discovery.

  • What do the results reveal about your values, interests, skills, goals, interaction style, etc.?
  • How will this information be useful for your career development and management?

Write your responses in about 300 words.

Information from Career Assessment

Organizations today have adopted innovative measures to retain key talent and reduce turnover. These measures include dual-career paths and alternative or flexible work arrangements. In addition, some organizations also provide their employees with outplacement, recruitment, and coaching services.
Managers should know and understand how to develop an employee in his/her preferred career path.  In order for the assessment data to be beneficial to the employee, the manager should understand and know how to interpret the data.   For this assignment, you will conduct an interview with someone who is in or has been in a management position and write a 4-5 page paper covering the following items:

  • What value does the manager you interviewed place on career self-assessments?
  • What role does the interviewee play in helping his or her employee reach their career objectives? Does the manager see any room for improvement in this area? Why or why not?
  • Based on your interview, outline proactive approaches employees can employ to gain assistance from his/her manager to advance within the organization and discuss how the information gathered from a career assessment can be used to promote internal career development
  • In addition, address the steps the employee can take to ensure assistance is received on a continual basis from the manager to promote workplace self-development.

All sources should be cited in proper APA format

health essay

Considering patients have access to medical data and advice from many internet and electronic databases available that different cultural groups are likely to access, develop a training curriculum for nurses to educate their patient about the appropriate use of that information

  • What type of training would you design for your nurses?

o    What considerations would need to be included in the curriculum?
o    How will you train for cultural competence?

  • What are the consequences of patients accessing inaccurate information?

o    Provide at least one real-world example of patient misinformation having a negative effect on treatment. This can be an example from your practice setting or from research you have conducted.

  • Provide at least three examples of Internet resources you would direct your nurses and their patients to utilize. How do you know these resources are reliable?

o    Include the links the three Internet resources in the text portion of your post

The Trial Process

As you learned in your reading, there are several stages to a trial process. Once a crime is reported, the police begin to investigate, collect evidence, and report evidence to the prosecutor. The involvement of the police continues from the beginning of a case to its end.

Tasks:

In this assignment, imagine you are an officer at your local police station. Your supervising officer assigns you to a prestigious unit that receives special projects, including education development. As your first project, you are assigned the task of creating and presenting a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation concerning the trial process to new recruits at the police academy.

Perform the following tasks:

Step 1: Research and develop a plan for the trial process. Use information from both the textbook and the Argosy University online library resources. Refer to the attached terms as a road map and make sure that the terms pertaining to your state criminal court system are present in your Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. Click here to download the road map.

Step 2: Create a 10- to 15-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation describing the local criminal trial process from the beginning to the end. Give thought to the difference between the misdemeanor and the felony processes. In addition, differentiate between the defendant’s choice of taking a case to a trial or as a plea. Discuss why a defendant may want to consider a plea instead of continuing with the trial. Explain possible penalties, sentences, and alternative programs available to the defendant.

Step 3: Include speaker notes to explain the contents of each slide including more research and information. Direct your speaker notes to your audience (for example, you may tell recruits that they may have to testify at the preliminary hearing and inform them what the judge would consider).

A firm evaluates all of its projects by applying the IRR rule. If the required return is 14 percent, should the firm accept the following project?

For the cash flows in the previous problem, suppose the firm uses the NPV decision rule. At a required return of 11 percent, should the firm accept this project? What if the required return is 24 percent?

A proposed new investment has projected sales of $635,000. Variable costs are 44 percent of sales, and fixed costs are $193,000; depreciation is $54,000. Prepare a pro forma income statement assuming a tax rate of 35 percent. What is the projected net income?

Dog Up! Franks is looking at a new sausage system with an installed cost of $540,000. This cost will be depreciated straight-line to zero over the project’s five-year life, at the end of which the sausage system can be scrapped for $80,000. The sausage system will save the firm $170,000 per year in pretax operating costs, and the system requires an initial investment in net working capital of $29,000. If the tax rate is 34 percent and the discount rate is 10 percent, what is the NPV of this project?

Night Shades, Inc. (NSI), manufactures biotech sunglasses. The variable materials cost is $9.64 per unit, and the variable labor cost is $8.63 per unit.

a. What is the variable cost per unit?

b. Suppose NSI incurs fixed costs of $915,000 during a year in which total production is 215,000 units. What are the total costs for the year?

c. If the selling price is $39.99 per unit, does NSI break even on a cash basis? If depreciation is $465,000 per year, what is the accounting break-even point?

In each of the following cases, calculate the accounting break-even and the cash break-even points. Ignore any tax effects in calculating the cash break-even.

Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines if submitting in Microsoft® Word.
