Art’s Role in Society
Comprehensive Statement: Art’s Role in Society
I have learned from researching that during the Italian Renaissance Michelangelo created many sculptural masterpieces that expressed many Renaissance ideas. His most renowned sculpture, David, symbolized freedom from oppression for Florence, which had just become a republic. Michelangelo’s David depicted a powerful image of David. The position of his hands and his rigorous facial expression indicates that he is ready for combat (Frank, 2014).

This journey into art, by means of my Art Gallery, has greatly influenced my daily life. I have become more aware of the artworks around me, and I even appreciate commercials because I know that someone had to come up with the idea and market it!
