Information Security

Imagine you are the Information Security Officer at a medium-sized hospital chain. The CEO and the other senior leadership of the company want to ensure that all of their hospitals are and remain HIPAA compliant. They are concerned about the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules and its impact on the organization. You begin looking at the information provided by the Department of Health and Human Services, located at http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/enforcement/index.html. Specifically, you are asked to provide an analysis of two (2) of the cases found here with emphasis on what was done to resolve the compliance issues.
Section 1. Written Paper
Non-compliance with HIPAA regulations can result in significant fines and negative publicity. To help ensure that your organization remains in compliance with HIPAA regulations you have been asked to write a four (4) page paper in which you:

1a.    Create an overview of the HIPAA Security Rule and Privacy Rule.
1b.    Analyze the major types of incidents and breaches that occur based on the cases reported.
1c.    Analyze the technical controls and the non-technical controls that are needed to mitigate the identified risks and vulnerabilities.
1d.    Analyze and describe the network architecture that is needed within an organization, including a medium-sized hospital, in order to be compliant with HIPAA regulations.
1e.    Analyze how a hospital is similar to and different from other organizations in regards to HIPAA compliance.
1f.    List the IT audit steps that need to be included in the organization’s overall IT audit plan to ensure compliance with HIPAA rules and regulations.
1g.    Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format

Section 2. Network Architecture
2a.    Create a network architecture diagram (using Visio or an open-source equivalent to Visio for creating diagrams), based on the description of the network architecture that you defined above for the organization to be compliant with HIPAA regulations.
2b.    Include in the diagram the switches, routers, firewalls, IDS / IPS, and any other devices needed for a compliant network architecture.

community

For this Assignment, imagine you are an administrator (choose your path assignment) who faces funding problems because your major funder has determined that your clients do not have proper access to services. Many of the access to service issues are community based, so you contact your peers in the town to design a plan that allows clients to access needed services quicker. Continue on the same path as you initially selected—you are one step closer to graduation now!
Path 1: Child and Family Welfare Scenario
You are the director of child prevention services for the school system. While you and your staff do not directly work for the state, a major portion of your funding comes from the school budget. The school administrators audited your program’s success to determine the feasibility of continued funding. Their findings revealed that the agency is providing excellent service to child clients but is doing a sub-par job in connecting families with needed ancillary services. You conduct an internal investigation into your case manager procedures and discover that they are making appropriate referrals. The difficulty is that each agency has different intake policies, procedures, and requirements, meaning that clients must spend at least an entire morning or afternoon just applying for each service. Further, many families do not have time to travel between a few agencies to get the services. (Many do not have reliable transportation.)
In a 4-5 page paper, design a plan for service delivery between multiple agencies that reduces paperwork and intake time. Be sure to include the following in your design:

  1. List some typical obstacles that interfere with the clients’ ability to access services across agencies.
  2. What are some creative ways to facilitate client care between many different types of agencies (e.g., food bank, mental health agency, welfare to work)?
  3. Often agencies have service-specific rules and laws that they must follow. Remember that most agencies must now follow HIPAA regulations; think about how you can use this knowledge to your advantage. What suggestions do you have for helping agencies in your town to streamline the intake process? Are there ways to facilitate access to services by eliminating some of the intake procedures? Why or why not?
  4. How does this plan eliminate the identified obstacles that interfere with the clients’ ability to access services at different agencies?

Suggested Format:

  • Title page (Coffeetown Problem)
  • Introduction (question one information-at least a half page)
  • Use theories and problem-solving from your studies (questions 2 and 3-at least two and a half pages)
  • Evaluation of the plan’s effectiveness (question 4-at least a half page)

Cultural Influence in Business Psychology

Mark Jones, a Production Manager, has been transferred from the manufacturing plant in his hometown of Chicago to his company’s overseas manufacturing plant in Osaka, Japan.
You are the company’s I-O psychologist. Using Hofstede’s Five Basic Elements of Culture Distinction, write an e-mail message to the Vice President (VP) of Production discussing at least three cultural differences that Mark will experience in managing front-line plant workers in Japan in contrast to in the United States. Also address how cultural differences may play a role in individual differences Mark will experience.
Your e-mail message should also include at least three recommendations on how managers can take up overseas tasks with minimum transition problems. State the rationale for your recommendations.
Because the VP of Production is a busy individual, restrict your e-mail message to one to two pages. Type the e-mail message in Microsoft Word, and send it to the M1: Assignment 3 Dropbox by Week 1, Day 7.
Where appropriate use structured text—bold format, headings, bulleted lists, and graphics—to clarify your meaning and to make your document easier to read.  Remember texting language will not be acceptable.

criminal justice

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper in which you focus on special issues in the criminal justice field. Include answers to the following questions in your paper:

  • What is the connection between drugs and crime?
    • Are you in favor of decriminalization of any federally controlled substances? Why or why not?
  • What are some of the causes of terrorism?
    • What efforts are being made to combat terrorism in the United States?
  • What is the relationship between crime and technological advancement?
    • What modifications to existing laws may need to occur to address crimes related to advancing technologies?

Format your paper must be consistent with APA guidelines. All quoted and paraphased material need to be referenced.

Network investigation

Describe in the report how you would summarize what has been accomplished in an actual identity theft investigation involving members of a criminal enterprise operation. Identify the types of systems you have examined, the tools you have used, and what you have discovered with these tools. State the evidence preservation processes you have used. Identify the tentative conclusion you have developed (rather than the preliminary conclusion). Identify any areas you feel you may need to expand on in the investigation, after gaining confirmation that this will be allowed, so that you can reach your final conclusions. In a Word document of 3–5 pages, provide a synopsis of your preliminary findings that will go into the forensics report as you would state in this meeting:

  • Explain that in the report, you would summarize what has been accomplished in the investigation.
  • Identify the types of systems you have examined, the tools you have used, and what have discovered with these tools.
  • State the evidence preservation processes you have used.
  • Identify the tentative conclusion you have reached.
  • Identify any areas you feel you may need to expand on in the identity theft investigation, after gaining confirmation that this will be allowed, so that you can reach your final conclusions.

Any references used for development of the main body of the paper should be in APA format. All technical assertions in the main body of the paper should have supporting citations and references in APA format 3-5 pages.
