Assignment 3: Managing Repeat DUI Offenders

Assignment 3: Managing Repeat DUI Offenders

A common type of referral for drug and alcohol treatment stems from driving-under-the-influence (DUI) offences. While DUI refers to impairment from any drug, alcohol is still the most common reason individuals are getting DUIs. Alcohol abuse and its relationship to crime in the United States are well documented. One common issue challenging the treatment community and the legal system is how to best manage repeat DUI offenders. This has been addressed at a number of levels, including mandatory jail or prison time, three-day driver intervention programs, and other more intensive forms of treatment such as intensive outpatient programming and residential treatments.

Using the module’s readings and the Argosy University online library resources, research the models utilized to address this issue in the United States. You may also contact agencies and providers in your area as a source of information for this assignment.

Tasks:

In a 5- to 6-page paper, respond to the following:

· Examine the model utilized to address repeat DUI offenders in your city or state.

· Explain the legal implications of this model.

· List and explain the treatment approaches.

Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

ASSIGNMENT
Prepare for this assignment by identifying the resources you’ll use to create your proposal. You will need to provide at least two quality resources such as the course textbook, company website, business websites (CNBC, Bloomberg, etc.), resources from the Strayer Library, and/or outside sources. Note: Wikipedia and web-based blogs do not qualify as credible resources.
INSTRUCTIONS Create a proposal (five to seven pages recommended) that includes the following components:
1. EI and Motivation
Which of the EI building blocks would impact management’s ability to enhance employee performance and job satisfaction?
Based on your research on motivational theory, describe how your task force would utilize positive or negative reinforcement to influence the members of the organization and resolve the issue. Provide examples to support your solution. 2. EI and Social Skills and Decision Making Explain how the core concepts of emotional intelligence would enhance the social skills and the decision-making efficacy of the management team. 3. Effective Teams Describe the core attributes of an effective team and the strategies you would implement to develop team dynamics that will benefit the organization. 4. Reward Systems Create an effective reward system for this organization. Determine the strategies you would incorporate to motivate your employees and influence behavior. 5. Executive Summary Prepare a one-page executive summary that you will present to the CEO in an upcoming executive meeting. Note: An executive summary is a condensed version of your full report. It should summarize briefly all the main points in concise paragraphs. It should be written clearly and should use language appropriate for the audience.

Module 6 – OLAP

Module 6 – OLAP
This assignment has three parts.  Please submit them all in a single Word .doc file.
1) Create an example of where OLAP would be a useful method of sifting through data.  You’re going to be looking at something that uses at least three different variables.  Describe what Business Intelligence types might be looking for when using OLAP in this situation.  (Note: If you have an example from your work, feel free to use it, just focus more on the importance side of things, and explain why an OLAP analysis would be useful.)
2) Diagram what an example slice of your datacube might look like when represented in the OLAP screen.  You don’t need to include data (unless you happen to have it), just the major and minor axes in an appropriate spreadsheet-looking format.  You can see examples of what OLAP displays would like like with a google search.
3) Do a little more research on alternatives to OLAP.  Pick one and describe what makes it different from OLAP.  Is it a reasonable replacement in the limited example that you’ve put together for parts 1 and 2?
Remember to support your responses with research (including adequate references), and to respond politely to your classmates.
Please submit your assignment via this assignment’s link as a Word .doc file, it should be approximately 3 pages in length with several academic references to support your position.

Identify an authentic discrimination situation that you either personally witnessed or researched from literature regarding an employee from a Title VII protected class related to human resource management.
Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word analysis of the legal issue and how a nurse leader could prevent this from happening. Your analysis should:

  • Describe the chosen authentic discrimination case.
  • Explore the ethical principles violated in this case.
  • Identify which Title VII protected class is involved.
  • Identify the state and federal laws that were violated.
  • Explore and develop evidence-based methods to prevent this from happening in your own organization.
  • Write a short policy (can be amending an existing one) that meets the needs of the agency given this issue identified.
  • Describe how you would make changes to the human resources polices for your human resources department.

Research at least three peer-reviewed journal articles less than 5 years old to support your assignment.
Format your paper according to APA guidelines.

SCDM71-316 Structures and Soil Mechanics

SCDM71-316 Structures and Soil Mechanics
Assignment 2
Increasingly architects and engineers are engaged by clients to design and build structures that demonstrate the client’s social
and environmental awareness. This is often in the form of sustainably designed and operated buildings.
This assignment aims to have you consider the different ways sustainable structural engineering design can be incorporated
into any given building. The solutions often mean the engineers have to develop out-of-the-box solutions. You will need to
use your engineering judgement and consider these solutions and how they have influenced the design of such buildings.
You are to choose one of the buildings listed below which have been completed with a sustainability focus and report on the
project tasks outlined below. You should focus on the structural engineering and construction concepts taught in this course
when answering the tasks below.
 41 Exemplar
 Bud Clark commons
 John and Frances Angelos Law Center
 Herman Teirlinck Building
 Bloomberg Center / Morphosis Architects
 Genzyme Center | Behnisch Architekten
PROJECT TASKS
The project tasks are as follows
1. Provide an introduction for the report detailing the purpose of the report and background information on your
chosen structure.
2. Briefly discuss the green star rating system used in Australia. Considering the requirements of the rating, discuss
two ways for a structural engineer to design slabs to achieve a higher green star rating.
3. Research two structures in Australia (not from the above list) that have being given a green star rating and discuss
the sustainability credentials of the structural building materials used in each building
Case Study (tasks 4-9 related to 1 (ONLY SELECT ONE) of the 6 buildings listed above)
4. Describe the calculation procedure of the total dead load of the slabs within the building. For bonus marks
approximate the dead load of these slabs. State the assumptions that you have made.
5. Identify the variable loads that the building will experience during its life cycle and how the engineer managed
the wind loads when designing the building (hint. consider the form of the structural elements and also
consider stability).
6. Draw the load path through the structure for the application of a 5kN live load at the centre of the plan area of the
roof of your selected structure.
7. Sketch two alternate footing systems that could have been used by your building. Discuss the reasons to use each
footing system and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
8. Briefly discuss three approaches of sustainable design engaged by your chosen building. Provide quantifiable
proof to justify your answers (you may need to consider research papers here).
9. Consider two architectural features that are considered rare or unique to the building and discuss how the engineer
overcame the difficulties associated with such features (hint: you will need to use your personal engineering
judgement to analyse the features).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There is a word limit of 1500 words.
Your report is not a question and answer. It should be structured with headings matching the topics points above. Referencing
is required.
Use photos, sketches and diagrams where required and where they can help answer the project tasks.

Origins Of Food

  • List and describe the food item, and include where it came from (check the label or Web site).
  • Use this calculator to determine how far it has traveled to you. Answer the following questions (use the Internet and CTU library to form your opinions):
    1. How does the vast movement of food from one nation to another benefit or potentially harm developing nations? Are there benefits of importing food to developed or wealthy nations?
    2. There is an “eat local” initiative developing throughout the United States and Europe. What are the benefits to buying fresh, local foods? Are there drawbacks? Do you buy local?
    3. Can you live without the food item you chose? Is there a local substitute available?
    4. Knowing what you do of how global food trade affects the global market and the economies of individual countries, explain your position on buying this food item in the future.
