Leading Change

Key Assignment Deliverable Length:  700-1,200 words
Note: All character and company names are fictional and are not intended to depict any actual person or business.
Your work with UWEAR and PALEDENIM is coming to closure. You have sent an e-mail to the client requesting feedback on any final requests before you close the project. Teresa Tramlin, the chief executive officer (CEO), has sent you the following e-mail in response:
It has been a pleasure working with you on this project. For your final deliverable, we are requesting a comprehensive change management framework that we can use to build upon as we move forward. We realize that there is much to do to create the culture we envision and build allegiance to the merged organization. Mike and I need to fully understand our role as leaders as well as help our managers understand their role in building employee commitment. We look forward to your recommendation regarding strategies and tactics to successfully complete the merger, navigate through change, and align personnel, culminating in an effective, successful organization.
As you reflect on this final deliverable, you realize that the new values-driven culture, including the code of conduct, represents just part of the change faced by the newly merged organization. Other areas of change include, but are not limited to, work roles, reporting structure, and key business processes.
Assignment
Recommend a change strategy and process for Theresa and Mike to follow. Applying concepts from this unit and prior units in the course, create your recommendation for Theresa and Mike that addresses, but is not limited to, the following:
Overall change management model, such as Lewin, Kotter, or ADKAR
Explain the value of this model for the UWEAR-PALEDENIM scenario.
Recommend specific actions related to application of the selected model.
Managing the people side of change, including resistance
Key leadership and management behaviors for effective change
Identify topics about which you would like additional information to fully respond to the request for the change management framework. Research peer-reviewed journals in the library to learn more about those areas. Apply concepts from at least 2 articles that you researched to the development of your recommendation.

sociology research paper

Title: Give your project a succinct yet illustrative title. A title like “Juvenile Justice Today” doesn’t give enough information to know what you’re studying. A title like, “How the Juvenile Justice System Robs Kids of Their Youth” is more like the title you would give an opinion piece. A research proposal title would be, “Understanding the Role of Juvenile Probation on High School Completion.” Abstract: No more than 200 words. Provide a brief explanation of the project’s purpose, what you will do in your project, and what you hope to gain from your project. (Tip: write this after you’ve written the other components in part 1.) Problem statement: Usually about 2 pages long, this introduction to the proposal lays out the problem that will be addressed. You may select any problem related to sociological study. If you have questions about whether your topic is appropriate, please ask your professor or your TA. Select a topic you want to explore for the entire quarter because part 2 builds on part 1. In the problem statement you will want to use statistics, examples, news articles, or other ways to convince the reader that this is an important topic. Citations to the research literature are appropriate here, but do not use the research literature as a motivator. The problem should be a social problem that can be addressed or understood better through research. Do not use direct quotations from articles or other source materials. Summarize the argument in your own words. Literature review: About 2-3 pages, this part of the proposal lets you explain what research has been conducted on this topic to date and why your particular angle on the issue is warranted. You should cite at least 3 published articles or published books (more is better). Do not cite Wikipedia. Do not use direct quotations from articles or other source materials. Summarize the findings in your own words. Make sure every article or source you cite in the text is also listed in the references. Research questions: This will be about 1-2 pages and will describe the specific questions you intend to ask in your research proposal, along with any sub-questions. Make sure to review the materials from the syllabus on how to ask a good research question! You can add any explanatory information here about why you’ve selected those questions and how they will add to the literature, why they will help to address the problem, and how they will help to inform policy or practice on the topic. If you are proposing a community-engaged research project, it would be important to mention that here. Think about the type of research methods you might want to use in devising your questions. This is all hypothetical, so don’t worry about the reality of actually doing the work! Plan for the best study you could possibly conduct. Reference List: At the end of the proposal you should have a section called References that includes a full citation to every source material you use in your proposal. The list should be alphabetized by last name. If you use two sources from the same author, put the more current one first. We will be using the American Sociological Association’s manual of style for the citations (see link above). Here are some examples:
For a book: Bursik, Robert J., Jr. and Harold G. Grasmick. 1993. Neighborhoods and Crime: The Dimensions of Effective Community Control. New York: Lexington Books.

The Case For, or Against, New Orleans

InstructionsAssignment 1: Required Assignment 2—The Case For, or Against, New OrleansSometimes one’s choices may involve catastrophic decisions and bear great risk and yet there can be no clear answer. For example, if a person gets a divorce, shutters a plant, sells a losing investment, or closes their business, will he or she be better off? The following case incorporates nearly all of the material you have covered this far and presents an example of one such choice where nearly all of the alternatives have a significant downside risk.Review the following information from the article “A Cost-Benefit Analysis of the New Orleans Flood Protection System” by Stéphane Hallegatte (2005):Hallegatte, an environmentalist, assigns a probability (p) of a Katrina-like hurricane of 1/130 in his cost-benefit analysis for flood protection. However, the levees that protect New Orleans also put other regions at greater risk. You may assume the frequency of other floods is greater than Katrina-like events (Vastag & Rein, 2011).The new levees that were built in response to Katrina cost approximately fourteen billion dollars (in 2010). This is in addition to the direct costs of Katrina (eighty-one billion dollars in 2005).50 percent of New Orleans is at or below sea level.A 100-yearevent means that there is a 63 percent chance that such an event will occur within a 100-year period. The following are the interested (anchored and/or biased) constituencies:Residents of New Orleans—both those that can move and those who cannot moveResidents of the surrounding floodplains at risk from New Orleans leveesThe Mayor of New OrleansThe federal government—specifically taxpayers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)Assume that the availability heuristics make people more risk averse (populations drop, at least in the short term). Consider how this would affect the local economy. You are an analyst at FEMA and are in charge of developing a recommendation for both the state and the local governments on whether or not to redevelop New Orleans.Write a report with your recommendation. Address the following in your report:Part AAnalyze the economics of New Orleans in light of the above parameters and develop your own Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) for rebuilding.Evaluate the value of the CBA for each constituency and integrate these estimates into a scenario model and/or decision tree. Analyze the results.Clearly each of these constituencies may both overlap and be prey to a variety of group dynamics internally. For one of these options, discuss the decision pitfalls to which they may be susceptible and make a recommendation on how to alleviate these pressures.Starting with your CBA, estimate the relevant expected utility for the interested constituencies.Note: You need not have absolute amounts but your relevant utilities should be proportional to one another.Hint: If you assume that your total CBA for New Orleans is fixed for each constituency (do not forget the overlaps), then each constituency will have a piece of the utility pie.Part BMake a case for or against rebuilding the city of New Orleans. This should be an executive summary; be concise and brief. Include exhibits.Whether you are for or against, discuss how social heuristics could be used to your advantage, both ethically and unethically, in making your case. You may choose to fill the role of one of the constituents, if you prefer.Write an 8–12-page report in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use proper spelling and grammar throughout, and keep the text legible and balanced with visuals. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.By the due date assigned, deliver your assignment to the Submissions Area.Hallegatte, S. (2006). Requirements
By now you should be developing comfort with discussions of alignment in research and you should be practiced in your ability to connect management problems to research questions and methodology. In module 3, you started working on your final assignment by authoring research questions that were based on a particular organizational dilemma. Now, based on what you have learned, you will update your thoughts on the questions you will ask and consider additional questions related to your collection methodology.
Details
Continue building a draft of your research proposal. To complete this assignment, author a response (approximately 3-5 double spaced pages) in which you answer the following questions:
1. Based on what you have learned and feedback you received on your earlier assignment (See Research Discussion), revise the following elements of your proposal:
a. Problem statement
b. Management questions and research objectives
c. Exploratory questions and secondary data sources
d. Investigative/research questions
e. The importance/benefits of your study
2. For any items that you have updated, explain why you have decided to make changes.
3. What type of research study will help you to address these questions? Why do you think this is best fit for your design?
4. What is the specific methodology you will use? Why did you select this method? What does it enable and what limitations exist?
5. What is your population and sample? How will you determine your sample? Again, please address why you have identified this sample and what limitations might exist. How would you protect against these limitations?
Assessment
Your assignment will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
· You have defined a management dilemma that is clear and worth exploring. Your problem statement should include the observed symptom and practical business implications.
· You have built out a line of inquiry (exploratory questions, management questions, and investigative questions) that are clearly aligned and differentiated.
· Your research question(s) is clear, measurable, and aligned to your management dilemma.
· Your methodology for conducting a research study is justified in relationship to your research questions.
· You have identified potential limitations of your study and have explained how you will address these limitations.
· Your sampling methodology is clear, feasible, and appropriately representative of your population.
Individual Research Design Assignment 8 Due on Sunday
Research Discussion -> base on this to write the research proposal
Define your context (what organization or type of organization is it? what is your role?). I get the research idea from my last summer internship, one of our team members decided to leave because of low salary. For the rest of team, even though no one has the courage like him, I always hear about the complaints about the salaries. So in this case, the research organization is based on the company with low/ inappropriate salary standard.
From human resource management perspective, the management dilemma can be whether to improve the salary to keep low labor turnover rate.
Explain what problem you are hoping to address. The management questions: How to keep low labor turnover with a suitable level of salary? (Define suitable level of salary: Affordable total salary amount without conflict with company’s interest and benefit. how to keep people without losing money/make sure the company is in the growth state?)
Relation Between Salary, Satisfaction, Productivity
· Keep employee->employee’s satisfaction
· The company want to earn money -> improve employees’ productivity to build revenue for company.
· Salary -> While many workers claim that job satisfaction and a sense of purpose drive their productivity, salary also plays a distinctive role in how well the employees perform. An employee’s overall satisfaction with his job is the result of a combination of factors — and financial compensation is always one of them.
From analytic perspective, the company could build a model to figure out the suitable level of salary to correlate with employee’s satisfaction and productivity.
List your research questions. Exploratory Questions
· How to make satisfaction measureable and analyzable?
· How to make productivity measureable and analyzable?
Research Question
· What are the factors affecting satisfaction?
· What are the factors affecting productivity?
Scale each Satisfaction and Productivity with list of variable to convert become measureable
Type of research study
· Survey
Identify your variables. Two big factors are satisfaction and productivity
Variable to scale employee’s satisfaction and productivity ->use survey method and collect data by use internal information about each employee performance from human resource department. I will record each employee’s salary, workload, sales performance, stress level, working time in each month, over hours, time being in the company, etc.
Describe your research design. What type of research is it? How will you conduct it? Only using sales performance to decide if the employees are hard working maybe kind of narrow. So I will consider to add more performance scales into my salary predict model. For example, how many customer’s complaints do the employee deal with in each month? How many the complaint really solved?
I could also use survey method by collect feedback about each manager or leader from their fellow workmates. According to add a bunch of variables to find the relationship between employees performance and their salary to get a suitable salary predict model for the company.
