Holzweiss, P. C., Joyner, S. A., Fuller, M. B., Henderson, S., & Young, R. (2014). Online graduate students’ perceptions of best learning experiences. Distance Education, 35(3), 311-323.
In the Holzweiss, Joyner, Fuller, Henderson & Young study, the researchers sampled graduate students. Please read the entire study with a focus on the sample and the sampling practices. Consider the study from two perspectives.
First, analyze the study itself as it was conducted. Consider the information in Chapter 5 regarding sampling and apply that information to an analysis of the sample in the Holzweiss study. This is a qualitative study, so be sure to consider the issues related to sampling in qualitative research as you analyze this sampling procedure.
Second, after you have discussed the sampling procedures, consider what sampling procedure you might use if you were to design this study as a quantitative study. What choices would you make regarding your population; what would be your target population? How would you select your sample? What size sample would you want to identify? How would you avoid sampling error and bias?
As a student of research, it is very important that you understand independent and dependent variables.
Consider the following research question: Are there differences between rural and urban children’s attitudes regarding diversity?
If you were to be analyzing this question for a research study, you would need to consider the following:
The dependent variable is attitudes regarding diversity.
The independent variable is type of children and it has two levels, rural and urban.
In this example several variables need to be operationalized. Let’s start with the dependent variable. Attitudes regarding diversity could be racial or ethnic diversity, it could be diversity related to being from elsewhere, or living differently. To develop this topic diversity would have to be operationally defined.
In this example we also need to operationalize rural and urban. This might be done with population statistics.
Children would also need to be operationalized. A small child’s attitude regarding diversity versus a middle-school child’s, or a teenager’s might be very different constructs.
Please carefully read Chapter 6 so that you understand independent and dependent variables.
Then please
· write a research question such as the one above;
· identify your independent and dependent variables related to that research question;
· provide operational definitions of your variables
EACH QUESTION SHOULD BE AT LEAST 300 WORDS
Counseling Theory- Person Centered Therapy
I need this back on Feb 1st by 6pm
As you may have gathered through your required readings and the video for this module, the psychodynamic tradition has a rich history and has evolved over time to adapt to trends toward briefer forms of treatment. Concepts from the theory, such as defense mechanisms, transference, and counter-transference, are also used by most non-psychoanalytic counselors to supplement their work with clients.
Tasks:
- Person Centered therapists do not use therapeutic techniques. Instead, they try to create a therapeutic relationship characterized by empathy, acceptance, and genuineness. Explain if you, as a therapist, would feel comfortable working with clients without techniques or would prefer to use techniques. Include information from the chapter readings to support your response.

Child abuse and maltreatment
Child abuse and maltreatment is not limited to a particular age and can occur in the infant, toddler, preschool, and school-age years. Choose one of the four age groups (infant, toddler, preschool, or school age) and discuss the types of abuse that are most often seen in this age. Discuss warning signs and physical and emotional assessment findings the nurse may see that could indicate child abuse. Discuss cultural variations of health practices that can be misidentified as child abuse. Describe the reporting mechanism in your state and nurse responsibilities related to the reporting of suspected child abuse.
theory analysis and evaluation
Consider Chapter 5, McEwen and Wills.
1) What does McEwen identify as a fundamental purpose of theory analysis and evaluation?
2) What are the three steps of Theory Evaluation?
3) Briefly discuss the history of Theory Evaluation. What are your thoughts on the significant contributions of Theory Evaluation to nursing theory and practice.

Situational Leadership STYLES, ARISTOTLE AND LEADERSHIP, AND LEADERSHIP VS. MANAGEMENT
Module 1 – Case
Situational Leadership STYLES, ARISTOTLE AND LEADERSHIP, AND LEADERSHIP VS. MANAGEMENT
Background
One of the more contemporary styles of leadership is “situational leadership.” In this assignment, you will choose a CEO from a top company and analyze his/her leadership style through the lens of situational leadership.
Required Reading
Fortune Magazines “100 Best Companies to Work For 2016”: http://fortune.com/best-companies/
Case Assignment
Drawing on the material in the background readings and doing additional research, prepare a 5- to 6-page paper (not including the cover and reference pages).
Using the framework of Situational Leadership, analyze the leadership style of a contemporary CEO from one of the top 10 companies listed in Fortune Magazine’s Best Companies to Work for in 2016.
Keys to the Assignment
· Go to Fortune Magazines Top 100 Companies to Work For 2016 and choose a company from the Top 10.
· Research the company, then answer the following questions.
· Which of the situational leadership styles exemplifies this company?
· What is the added value of this leadership style?
· What impact does this leadership style have on the organization’s overall image?
· Contrast this leadership style with Express Scripts, named the worst company in America to work for by glassdoor.com.
· Based on your experiences and research, what kind of leadership style is needed to promote efficiency in an organization? What contingencies affect this outcome? Justify your response.
· These are not the only things that must be covered, but just the minimum. You are encouraged to go deeper with the assignment and use your critical thinking skills to ascertain what other areas are important in making a company one of the top ones in which to work.
Module 1 – SLP
Situational Leadership STYLES, ARISTOTLE AND LEADERSHIP, AND LEADERSHIP VS. MANAGEMENT
The purpose of the Session Long Project in Trident University International classes is to give you the opportunity to explore the applicability of the Module to your own life and work, and to see how the otherwise academically rigorous presentation of a topic may, with more or less work and/or trauma, become “up close and personal”. This is done in a number of different ways — sometimes cumulative papers, sometimes practical hands-on experimentation with a tool of some sort, sometimes reflections on a place of work or life. The common thread is personal application, aimed at demonstrating a cumulative knowledge and understanding of the course’s material.
In each module, you will complete an assessment and/or situation diagnostics focusing on some aspect of leadership. You will then be asked to create a plan by which you can “grow” your strengths and develop your weaknesses. By the end of the course and the project, you will have a better understanding of strategic leadership and how to use leadership to influence followers.
Background
Martin Luther King was one of the great orators of the 20th century, and his style has been used as a model for many, including President Barack Obama. In this SLP assignment, you will analyze MLK’s style and compare it to your own.
Required Reading
Please read Martin Luther King’s letter from Birmingham Jail at:http://www.bu.edu/irsd/Ec326_2004/material_2004/Letter%20from%20Birmingham%20Jail.htm
Session Long Project
Then, drawing on the material in the background readings and doing additional research, write a 2- to 3-page paper in which you:
Analyze the leadership and oratory styles of Martin Luther King, Jr. through the lens of ethos, logos, and pathos, and compare his styles to your own. What could you do to strengthen your own skills at influence and persuasion?
Keys to the Assignment
The key aspects of this assignment that, at a minimum, should be covered in your paper include:
· Examples of how Martin Luther King used ethos, logos, and pathos in his powerful and highly influential letter.
· How do you/can you incorporate what you have learned about ethos, logos, and pathos into your own leadership activities to increase your influence as a leader?

Dissemination of research findings in the clinical nursing literature
A POSITIVE COMMENT BASED IN THIS ARGUMENT
Dissemination of research findings in the clinical nursing literature occurred at two levels: through articles that reported studies of potential value to the nurse’s practice and citations to research publications within articles. Relevance to clinical practice. Disseminating research in journals that are geared to clinicians is essential to increase nurses’ awareness of research findings that might be relevant to their practice (Oermann, Nordstrom, Wilmes, Denison, Webb, Featherston, & Kowalewski, 2008). The American Association of Critical Care Nurses Journal would be a great place to present my project because the success of ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) bundles in preventing ventilator associated pneumonia largely depends on the knowledge and cooperation of critical care nurses. Educating them will bring awareness to the difference that they as nurses can make. Over 100,000 nurses and nursing students currently subscribe to The American Association of Critical Care Nurses Journal. The National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition would be a good conference to discuss my project because the conference focuses on evidence based practices and has critical care nurses from around the country and beyond. It is a good way to educate but also a great place to learn from others in the same field. The exposition also allows nurses to collect CE hours for attendance so this will add an extra incentive for nurses to participate. The conference offer more than education; it also offers an environment for support and inspiration. Nurses come with an open mind ready to learn and getting nurses to understand the need for change is half the battle.
