Traumatic Brain Injury: Jefferson’s Case

Assignment 2: Traumatic Brain Injury: Jefferson’s Case

When new parents are expecting a baby, they rarely consider the possibility that the baby could have significant challenges. For those who have children with severe, multiple disabilities, planning for the future is a critical, lifelong process and requires considerable investments of time and effort, while potentially causing significant stress to the parents. With advances in our understanding, there are many more resources available to children and families than there were previously.
Review the following scenario:

Jefferson is a six-year-old boy in kindergarten. He has suffered from cerebral palsy and a severe seizure disorder since he was an infant, resulting in significant physical and cognitive impairment. Although he has received services and support through early childhood intervention (ECI) services, as he enters formal schooling, his parents have become increasingly concerned about his future. Jefferson spends most of his time in a wheelchair and uses a special touchscreen augmentative communication device. In addition to their concerns about the future, Jefferson’s father also harbors considerable guilt that he or his wife might have caused their son’s disabilities.

Based on your research, respond to the following:

Write a 4–5-page paper in Word format (not counting the title and reference pages). Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Be sure to include a title page and reference page, also in APA format.

Ethical Considerations in Geriatric Neuropsychology

Explain the symptoms, how the diagnosis is made (e.g., findings on brain imaging, laboratory testing, etc.), the neurobiological basis for the disorder (e.g., CNS structures involved and neurotransmitters), and current treatment options (including mechanism of action for any drug therapies). You must use a minimum of two peer-reviewed articles in your discussion to support your statements.

descriptive paper about my family work health and safety history over the past three generations

2.6 due Write a descriptive paper about your family work health and safety history over the past three generations – your grandparents, parents, and yourself.   Families are diverse and can be defined narrowly or broadly.  For the purposes of this assignment family is defined as “two or more persons who are joined together by bonds of sharing and emotional closeness and who identify themselves as being part of the family” (M. Friedman. Family Nursing: Research, Theory, and Practice).  So you may be writing about people other than (or in addition to) a parent or grandparent.
Length:  The required length is at least 4 pages, but no more than 6 pages.  A standard page is about 250 words, so your paper should be a minimum of 1,000 words.
Address the following questions:

  • What jobs or occupations have you and family members held?
  • What health and safety issues were encountered?• Were there any short or long term health consequences from the work family members did?
  • What was the occupational safety and health historical context?  In other words, what were significant political, economic or social events that may have had an impact on  working conditions?  This is an important part of the assignment, so be sure not to skip it.  It is always disappointing when a student tells a great story about his or her family, but fails make the occupational safety and health history connection and, therefore, cannot get a high grade.

I suggest you view and complete the Week 2 lecture before writing your paper. The paper is your story and is an important point of reference throughout the course.
You do not have to use a specific format (e.g. APA or Chicago) but your work should be edited, proof-read, and employ good writing mechanics.  Please double-space and submit as a Word doc.
You must appropriately cite any content in your paper that is not yours.  I don’t care what citation style you use, but your reader should be able to 1) know the rightful owner of the content and 2) be able to find it.
Don’t forget that you can find great writing resources and citation guides in the tool section of the Course Essentials module.

Discussion—Performance Measurements

Assignment 1: Discussion—Performance Measurements

Both the Genesis Energy and Sensible Essentials teams believe that the client engagement was very successful. All the critical learning tools were fully explored. However, the operations management team believes there were several topics that were not covered but are important to their respective disciplines. These topics centered primarily on selecting/developing meaningful and rational measurements of performance as they relate to measuring the success of the company’s expansion strategy. The financial indicators are important, but the team is also concerned about more forward-looking measures that might reflect product quality, customer satisfaction, internal process efficiency, performance, and perhaps, other strategic indicators.
Based on your understanding of the concepts covered in this course, address the following:

By the due date assigned, post your response to the Discussion AreaThrough the end of the module, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses.
Write your initial response in 300–500 words. Your response should be thorough and address all components of the discussion question in detail, include citations of all sources, where needed, according to the APA Style, and demonstrate accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation
