When used, an abstract always appears at the beginning of a manuscript, acting as the point-of-entry for any given research or scientific paper. For the APA style of documentation a shorter abstract is required for most papers, thus, if you are doing APA you must include a prospectus in your final paper. However, if your abstract is well-written here, you may also use if for your final paper. An abstract is not required for MLA papers; nevertheless, to get the experience you are only going to write an abstract that will appear here in this final research prospectus.
