  • What line of work is the company in?
  • What products or services does the company provide?
  • What is the company’s mission statement?
  • Why did you choose this particular company? You are welcome to use your own company as long as you can remain objective through the course of the analysis.

Health Equity, Health Disparity, And Health Inequality

One of the most basic principles of public health is that all people have a right to health. Unfortunately, a right to health does not guarantee good health or equivalent health status amongst people. Although the term “disparities” is often interpreted to mean racial or ethnic disparities, many dimensions of disparities exist in the United States, particularly in health. If a health outcome is seen in a greater or lesser extent between populations, there is disparity. Race, ethnicity, sex, sexual identity, age, disability, socioeconomic status, and geographic location all contribute to an individual’s ability to achieve good health.
The purpose of this assignment is to consider the historic background of health disparities. You will also relate this history to the current state of healthcare, changes that have occurred over time and changes that are still needed in public health.
Using online scholarly library resources, and the Internet, respond to the following:

  • Examine the differences between health equity, health disparity, and health inequality, using examples and scholarly references for support.
  • Review the article (attached) and answer the question that follows:
  • What aspects of the article do you think are still applicable in health services today and which do you think are not?

Support your statements with appropriate examples and scholarly references.
Write your initial response in approximately 200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

Course Title: Business Process Management
Course Description:
Introduces key concepts and approaches to business process management and improvement. Examines how to identify, document, model, assess, and improve core business processes. Hands-on experience with SAP ERP software. Prerequisite(s): CIS 300 and CIS 325.
Prerequisite Courses: CIS 300 Foundations of Information Systems and CIS 325 Systems Analysis and Design
Course Overview Enterprise systems are becoming more and more common in businesses around the world. Enterprise systems (ES) can be defined as large-scale application software packages that support an entire organization. ES support business processes, information flows, reporting and data analytics for the organization. It is becoming increasingly important for students to develop a more process-centric perspective (as opposed to a functional perspective) that reflects the realities of the modern business environment. By definition, Information Systems (IS) professionals utilize technology to solve an organization’s business problems. Therefore, understanding the integration of business processes and how data flows through an organization is critical for the practicing IS professional. You will get hands on experience with integrated business processes with the world’s largest enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, SAP ERP, in a virtual lab environment. Real-world exposure to SAP increases the student’s ability to integrate knowledge across business disciplines and build a firmer grasp of integrated business processes. You will be able to apply the real-world concepts presented in this course immediately upon entering the workforce and will be better prepared to succeed in your career.
Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:
• Describe key business processes in an organization • Explain the role of enterprise systems in supporting business processes • Describe the organizational data related to financial accounting • Effectively use SAP ERP to execute key steps and extract meaningful information in the
procurement, fulfillment, production, and material planning processes • Demonstrate how inventory and warehouse management processes are integrated with
other processes

Behavioral Health Response to Disasters

Behavioral Health Response to Disasters, Author: Framingham, Julie:

Forum Assignment for the Week: 300 Words minimum For this week’s Forum, respond to the following:   On September 11th, 2001, the United States was the target of terrorists, suffering mass casualties, including thousands of lives lost as an immediate result of the terrorist attacks and many more to follow for years to come. Casualties not often thought of immediately are the psychological casualties of such an event, particularly those who may not have been involved in the tragic events first hand. However, Hoffman and Kruczek (2011) share a perspective worth considering in the discussion of the effects of terrorism, highlighting random survey results that indicated media exposure to the terrorist attacks revealing endorsements of PTSD by about half of surveyed adults, with one third restricting television access due to the traumatic nature of the event.

· Considering the materials for the week, share your thoughts on the effect of media exposure to images from terrorist events. Should these be viewed as the new normal?

· Do significant concerns related to the psychosocial development and functioning and potential of adverse reactions, such as the development of PTSD, exist with these types of indirect exposures to terrorist events?

Remember to respond to at least three classmates during the week in the discussion forum.

***Your post must also end with a “Question to the Class” – something related to the topic that you found thought-provoking and about which you’d like to know more and have further dialog. ***

General Instructions Applicable to All Forums:

Forum post source citation is not required for forum posting in our class.  This is because we are engaging in conversation that happens to be in writing form, not composing essays or research papers. You will, however, need to paraphrase (restate in your own words) any words of published authors in parts of your posts that are based on their work.  Copying of published material, which is plagiarism, is prohibited and any instances of it, including forum posts, will result in a zero score without an option for re-submission to recoup lost points and a report sent to the Registrar’s Office per University policy.

Discussion forum posts will be graded on verbal expression, critical thinking, making an effort to not just participate in but contribute to the dialog with initial and reply posts of a substantive nature commensurate with graduate level studies. Posts must have correct grammatical construction, spelling, and punctuation with no texting or other casual style language.

Strategy Report

Instructions
You should prepare a Strategy Report of 5,000 words for Morrisons, a supermarket chain in the UK (https://www.morrisons-corporate.com/About-us/?utm_source=groceries&utm_medium=internal&utm_campaign=footer_link). References and appendices are not included in the word count, nor are any contents pages. Remember also that material contained within pictures or tables does not contribute to your word count. You must reference your work very carefully. You are expected to evidence your engagement with the module and you should have read around the module carefully. The following is a basic guidance for the assignment but feel free to expand it.
Executive Summary
After writing the essay please put an executive summary
1.0 Introduction
-introduce Morrisons by giving a brief history of the company
-give an overview of what your report is all about
2.0 Strategic Analysis
Briefly explain what your strategic analysis is going to be about
2.1 External Environment
Should present an assessment of the external forces that act upon Morrisons using appropriate tools and frameworks. PESTEL, Porters Five Forces etc
2.2 Strategic capabilities
Should identify and evaluate the strategic capabilities of Morrisons.  VRIO analysis, Benchmarking, Value Chain Analysis, SWOT, Activity Mapping
2.3 Business AND/OR corporate/diversification strategies.
There must be a consideration of the business or corporate strategies used by the organisation and these must be related to its competitiveness. Think of Generic strategies and interactive strategies. Here use porters generic strategies

  1. 4. Politics and Sustainability

Issues such as Politics, Sustainability and Business Models (Platform Strategy) should also be considered where appropriate.
2.5. International strategy
International strategy there should be consideration of the organisation’s international strategy (where appropriate).
3.0 Strategic options.
Recommendation of some strategic options for the organisation to maintain or enhance competitiveness in the future. These must be related to the potential impacts of macro or competitive forces as identified in Section 1. Please also note you should make recommendations within the context of the organisation. Ansoff Matrix
4.0 Conclusion
-Summarise the main points of your report

Presentation. The report should be well-presented, meaning that it should be clear and well-structured, with few or no spelling or grammatical errors, and it should be correctly referenced in a consistent Harvard style.
Consider all the relevant models, tools and concepts which have been covered in this module: if you think they apply to your case study organisation, and tell you something useful about its strategy, then apply them, and tell us about what you have found out by doing so.
Please do not describe/define/explain the models
Integrate the application of such specific tools and models within the body of the report and don’t bother to include any appendices. That is fine by us. Remember that material contained within pictures or tables does not contribute to your word count. We don’t mind which way you do it, so long as you are appropriately critical and analytical.

  1. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA: We will use these assessment criteria (see next page) to judge the quality of your work and to give you useful feedback.

The Strategic Manager: Strategy Report (100%) marking scheme
1 Use of Module Concepts
LO1: Critically apply the relevant concepts for each section to aid in strategic management conceptual understanding and insight
100-70%: Significant conceptual underpinning. Clear evidence of the interrelationships between concepts is evidence. Significant evidence of conceptual insight.
69-60% : Very good conceptual underpinning. Some evidence of conceptual interrelationships. Very good evidence of conceptual insight.
59-50% : Good conceptual underpinning. Good understanding of conceptual interrelationships. Good application of a range of concepts; good evidence of insight.
49-40%  : Limited conceptual underpinning. Limited understanding of conceptual interrelationships. Formulaic application of limited range of concepts; limited conceptual insight.
39-30% (Fail): Insufficient [relevant] conceptual underpinning.
29-0% (Fail) : Where conceptual underpinning evident fails to address relevant topics, marks will be given to a maximum of 29% available.
2 Critical Analysis
LO2: undertake holistic and indepth critical analysis through the application of relevant strategy tools, models & concepts in each section.
100-70%:  Only analytical commentary.  No evidence of descriptive statements. Significant evidence of analytical insight.
69-60% : Mostly analytical commentary. Very few descriptive statements. Very good evidence of analytical insight.
59-50% : Some analytical commentary. Some descriptive statements. Good evidence of analytical insight.

29-0% (Fail) : Where structured argument evident fails to address relevant topics, marks will be given to a maximum of 29% available.
Note
Beyond description and into critical analysis Note that it will not be enough to simply DESCRIBE the strategy or your organisation. In order to achieve a first class or upper second result, you should stick to analytical commentary (related to Assessment criteria 2, critical analysis). Apply the relevant models and analysis tools to discover and critique the strategic approaches taken by your case study organisation. Discuss your organisation with regard to the concepts we have introduced within the module.
If you want to get a good mark, it is really important that you use a wide range of module tools, concepts and models (also known as theories!). Show the marker that you understand what the theories do, use them appropriately, and you will be well on the way to a great result. This relates to Assessment Criteria 1, use of module concepts.

Major Essay Assignment

Assignment (Major Essay)
Due Date: Wednesday, 10 Jan
Weight: 60%
Length: 2,000 words

Each student is required to individually submit a well-researched and clearly written
essay of no more than 2,000 words in response to the following:

In your unit text Heywood introduces you to four competing definitions of politics (see
pages 2-12). Your task is to choose ONE of these definitions and develop an analysis
of the politics of ONE of the social problems (or any other social problem in which you
have a particular interest) listed below:

  • Homelessness
  • Emissions Trading
  • Child Welfare
  • Health Care
  • Domestic Violence
  • Terrorism
  • Refugees and Border Security
  • Crime and Punishment
  • Education
  • Social Inequality
  • Indigenous Rights
  • Human Rights
  • Consumer Protection
  • Environment

Some suggestions:

  1. After your introductory paragraph, your analysis should have one paragraph that

discusses the definition of politics that you have adopted. For example, if you intend
to adopt the definition of politics as government then you should provide a brief
paragraph that discusses that particular approach to defining the political.

  1. Your essay should avoid any attempt to offer an exhaustive descriptive account of

your chosen problem. Rather, you should remain firmly focused on developing an
analysis of the politics (as you have defined it) of your problem. For example, if you
choose to define politics as government then your focus would be on the analysis of
what government has done to deal with the problem. You might give some
consideration to explaining why government has done what it has done, or you could
focus more on the roles and activities played by various social groups and
organisations that have tried to influence government policy. Alternatively, you might
wish to focus on the impact that government actions have had on your chosen social
problem. Similarly, if you chose to define politics as compromise and consensus,
your focus would be on the analysis of how conflicts associated with your chosen
social problem have or have not been resolved. You might spend some time telling
us about the nature of those conflicts, the various interests involved, what different
groups and organisations have tried to do to resolve the conflict, what tactics they
have used, as well as provide some analysis of the results of attempts to resolve the
conflict.

  1. Your essay should demonstrate an ability to use some of the key concepts that you

have been introduced to this trimester to the political analysis of your chosen
problem. For example, if you choose to define politics as power, you would be
expected to be clear about what you mean by power, and use your definition in a
consistent and clear manner. Similarly, if you use the concepts of state, or legitimacy,
or authority, you would be expected to demonstrate a clear understanding of the
meaning of such terms and to also apply then consistently in your analysis.

  1. Your essay should demonstrate a capacity to locate relevant empirical material. The

resources and search engines available to you through the Dixson library should be
used. Markers will not look favourably upon a simple reliance on a Google search.

  1. Your essay should be structured according to the conventions of academic writing. If

you are unsure about what this entails please go to
[http://www.une.edu.au/tlc/aso/aso-online/academic-writing/index.php]. See also
‘Tips on Essay Writing’ on page 19 below.

  1. Your essay should be referenced accurately and should contain a properly formatted

bibliography of sources. The AGPS Referencing system should be used. Particular
care must be shown toward grammatical expression and spelling.

  1. You should begin preparations for your final assignment no later than four weeks

before the due date. A special Discussion Forum will be established to deal with any
questions or queries students have about their major essay. Although assignments
must be submitted individually, students are encouraged to engage in a group
discussion via Moodle about how they intend to address the major essay task. The
Unit coordinator will monitor the group discussion and provide advice when
necessary.

  1. In a Header does the essay contain the unit name, my name, my student number.

  1. Is typed with at least 1.5 line spacing.

  1. The typeface for the text is the equivalent of 12 point Times Roman and the typeface in the footnotes is at least 10 point.

  1. Has page numbers at the top of each page.

  1. Has a left-hand margin of 3 cm and a right hand margin of 2 cm.

  1. Includes an introduction that states my main argument clearly and succinctly.

  1. Has been referenced in accordance with the AGPS referencing system.

  1. Has a bibliography/or list of references been attached.

Module 4 – Case ECONOMICS OF ORGANIZATION AND STRATEGY

Module 4 concludes BUS530 with an assessment of the new developments in managerial economics:
· Asymmetric information refers to market situations in which one party in a transaction has more information than the other party.
· Adverse selection is a situation in which asymmetric information causes higher-risk customers to be more likely to purchase or sellers to be more likely to supply low-quality goods.
· Moral hazard is a situation that occurs when, as a result of having insurance, an individual becomes more likely to engage in risky behavior.
· The lemon problem applies this analytical framework to the market for used cars.
· The principal-agent problem applies the same analytical framework to the relationship between the CEO of a company (the agent) and the stockholders (the principal).  Furthermore, Module 4 introduces the students to three special markets: a) the market for used cars, b) the insurance market, and c) the credit market.
· Finally, Module 4 introduces the students to the use of data and statistical analysis to support managerial decisions.
After reading the required material, you will complete one case assignment, one session long project and participate in the discussion forum.
Module 4 – Case
ECONOMICS OF ORGANIZATION AND STRATEGY
Assignment Overview
Apple and Samsung are often mentioned together, as they are both world leading producers of smartphones.  However, they are much different companies in a variety of ways.  Carefully review the background readings concerning diversification and vertical integration.  Then do some extensive research on Samsung and Apple concerning their diversification and vertical integration strategies.
Case Assignment
When you have finished your research, write a four- to five-page paper answering the following questions. Make sure to cite both the required background readings as well as articles on Samsung and Apple:
1.
1. To what extent does Apple engage in related diversification?  To what extent do they engage in unrelated diversification?
2. To what extent does Samsung engage in related diversification?  To what extent do they engage in unrelated diversification?
3. To what extent does Apple engage in backward (upstream) vertical integration?  To what extent do they engage in forward (downstream) vertical integration?
4. To what extent does Samsung engage in backward (upstream) vertical integration?  To what extent do they engage in forward (downstream) vertical integration?
5. Overall what major differences or similarities do you find between Samsung and Apple’s diversification and vertical integration strategies?
Module 4 – SLP
ECONOMICS OF ORGANIZATION AND STRATEGY
For this final SLP, imagine that your business has become successful and you are now considering expanding the scope of your company.  Carefully review all of the required background materials, and then write a three-page paper answering the following questions.  Make sure to cite at least one of the required readings for each of your answers:
1. If you were to engage in horizontal integration, which of your direct competitors would you decide to acquire?  Overall, do you think horizontal integration is the best long-run plan for your business if it is successful?
2. Do you think your business should vertically integrate over time?  Should you engage in backwards vertical integration, forward vertical integration, both, neither?  Explain your reasoning.
3. How about diversification/conglomerate strategy?  Any advantage to diversifying your business?  Discuss unrelated diversification and related diversification and whether or not these strategies might be good for your business.  Explain your reasoning.
SLP Assignment Expectations
· Answer the assignment questions directly.
· Stay focused on the precise assignment questions. Do not go off on tangents or devote a lot of space to summarizing general background materials.
· Make sure to use reliable and credible sources as your references. Articles published in established newspapers or business journals/magazines are preferred. If you find articles on the Internet, make sure they are from a credible source.
