Wright Mills asked us to distinguish personal troubles from public issues (social problems). For example, when a person loses their job, it is clearly a serious personal trouble for that person. But sociologists concern themselves with the problem of unemployment as it pertains to society as a whole. Think about C. Wright Mills’ call to distinguish personal troubles from public issues and answer the following: What is an example of a personal trouble that has impacted you or someone you know?
