Handbook
In an organization, there are many employment policies in the company handbook. This handbook is given to employees at the start of the employer-employee relationship, and although generally not construed as a binding contract against the company in a later lawsuit over the policies, it governs the expectations of employees at the workplace. This Mini Project will have you analyze a company handbook as it relates to the company’s disability policy(ies) and provide a written report of your findings. The report should be at least two pages in length. Please cite your reference using APA format. Review the employee handbook at your place of employment. If you are unemployed, you can review the handbook you might have handy from a previous employer, or ask to look at one from your spouse, other family member, or friend. In your response, discuss what the handbook says about how the company deals with disability issues and accommodating employees with disabilities. Explain what, if any, steps the company provides for an employee to present a request for accommodation. Use specific examples within the contract to support your answer. Do the company policies articulate a difference in how the company treats workplace injuries as opposed to other disabling injuries (such as non-work related injuries or congenital or innate disabling issues)? If so, how? If no, do you think it is effective and/or wise not to include a written distinction? Is the policy fair? If yes, why? If no, what could the company do to improve the policy? Think about the term “fair” from both an employer and an employee perspective.

Complete a 2-page description of experiences you had where you negotiated with (1) a co-worker and (2) your boss or an individual who is senior to you in your organization. For each negotiation, describe the situation briefly, which negotiating style you used, why you selected that style, and whether or not the outcome had a “win-win” outcome. Each negotiation should be one-page; thus this assignment total should be two pages. It is ok to use fictitious names for your co-worker and your boss. Use your text, class exercises, and discussion to help you. Place your name on your assignment, proofread, and submit.
Self Disclosure
Assume that a major component of an undergraduate course in child growth and development you are teaching involves the Signature Assignment. This assignment requires you to relate the Eriksonian stages to autobiographical data and biographical information of family members. One of your students refuses to disclose anything personal and claims you are in violation of ethics Standard 7.04. Since you are unwilling to change the requirement, the student files a complaint with the department chair. Create a transcript of the dialogue between you and the department chair, Dr. Kweigg, who supports the student. Examine the possible conflicts between your assignment criteria and Standard 7.04, providing specific examples to support your reasoning for not changing the assignment. Explain how you will resolve the situation, given the department chair agrees with the student who filed the complaint. In your argument, you must demonstrate that the autobiographical component is necessary to achieve the stated course outcomes. You also need to explain how this requirement was clearly identified in the course description. You are expected to provide the opposing argument from Dr. Kweigg. Support your assignment with at least three scholarly or professional resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included. Length: 2-3 pages, not including title and reference pages Your assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
World War II: The American Experience
World War II left no country untouched. The fighting left whole continents battered and devastated. Cities were flattened, and hundreds of thousands were displaced from their homes. Some 49 million people died in World War II, including 400,000 American soldiers. Another 11 million, including 6 million Jews, were killed in German concentration camps. Battles took place in nearly every corner of the globe. Soldiers fought on beaches, in jungles, and along rivers, and campaigns for dominance stretched across the globe, with eventual victory by the Allies. Part 1: The Military Experience Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper that provides a comprehensive view of the American military experience during World War II. The paper should do the following: Identify the causes for American involvement in the war. Present an analysis of the major military campaigns of the war. Analyze each of the following military campaigns, including 2 to 3 of the related subtopics, the results of the campaign, and overall success for the Allies. Emphasize the American position in each campaign. North African Campaign Objectives Operation Torch Vichy position Rommel and Von Amim in North Africa Patton and Bradley in North Africa Rommel withdraws from El Agheila Battle of El Guettar Results Italian Campaign Objectives Casablanca Conference Operation Husky Fall of Messina Naples Landing at Anzio Fall of Rome Mussolini’s surrender Results Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines with a citation for each paragraph and using the template that I have attached. National Security & Intelligence Paper
Students must choose a particular national security issue upon which she or he will research. The overall goal of the paper is the following: 1) Capture a summary of the principle issue; 2) advance a thoughtful analysis of the issue; 3) relate the subject matter to the course; 4) incorporate at least five different sources you have found on your own in order to advance a substantial and thoughtful analysis; and 5) address a specific policy conundrum related to national security, intelligence, and/or terrorism. For example, one issue may deal with how the vast intelligence bureaucracy has hindered information sharing and how this has decreased U.S. national security. However, one would also have to address this problem and try to solve it. This assignment, therefore, is to not only prepare you for future university research and assist students with navigating through the library’s vast resources, most of which are often unbeknown to university students, but also begin to think of policy analysis and solutions. The comments on the reading assignments will help guide you and improve upon your final work. I will also be available to help students on their projects. The final paper must be uploaded on Blackboard at the end of the course.
Reflection of reading and video
Consider how the arguments of Keohane and Wallace fit into the conversation about the relationship between education and work. How is their work structured? What do they take into account that the others do not? Where and why are these authors converging with (and diverging from) one another? Raise at least one question about the complex intersections among education, work, and happiness that is explored by the readings thus far. Need to mention both resource in one essay, and not outside resources. Resource links: http://harvardmagazine.com/
